It's Bargain Hunting Time For Semiconductors Stocks!
@koolgal:🌟🌟🌟This has been a horrible week that saw the US markets tumbling. The Nasdaq 100 Index has its worst day in 2 years. There are new worries about Taiwan and the global supply chain for chips. Then on Friday, the world woke up to a software failure that took down airlines, payment systems, personal computers, corporate websites and some hospitals even had to cancel operations. $NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$ fell 2.6% on Friday and in the last 5 days, it dropped 9.7%. $Advanced Micro Devices(AMD)$ shares fell even more. AMD dropped 2.6% on Friday and it is now down 17% for the week. $Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing(TSM)$ was down 3.5% today and it has plummeted by 12% for the past 5 days. $Intel(INTC)$ was also not spared but it only dropped 4.9% for the week. The worst performance was $Direxion Daily Semiconductors Bull 3x Shares(SOXL)$ . SOXL has dropped 9% on Friday and in the past 5 days, it has tanked by a massive 27%. This is due to the leveraged nature of SOXL as it tracks the performance of the NYSE Semiconductor Index and provides 3 times leverage on its performance. There were 2 key factors that affected the semiconductor stocks. Firstly Donald Trump said that Taiwan has to pay for its own defence. Taiwan is home to TSMC, the world's largest private foundry in the world. TSMC makes the most advanced chips and it has the many Big Tech companies as its customers including Nvidia, AMD, Microsoft, Meta Platforms and Google. That remark by Donald Trump sent TSMC share price into a tailspin and other major Semiconductor stocks as well. Then the Biden Administration said that it may invoke the 70 year old Foreign Direct Product Rule. This provision was introduced in 1959 to control trading of US technologies. This means that if a product was made using American technology, the US government has the power to stop it from being sold, including products made in a foreign country. It is not surprising that the major Semiconductor stocks fell after this negative news. I believe that this is a great time to go bargain hunting for great semiconductor stocks. My favourite is Nvidia. So I bought Nvidia on Thursday as I believe that it has lots of exponential growth ahead. Nvidia has 80% market share of the specialised AI chips that are selling like hot cakes. As Warren Buffett likes to say When there is Fear in the markets it is time to be greedy. @Daily_Discussion @TigerStars @Tiger_comments @MillionaireTiger @CaptainTiger
