$Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$ With market commentary I am constantly reminded of the song radio Gaga by Queen. Seriously I get so annoyed with commentators. I haven't listened to mainstream media news for years because is sensationalist drivel based very loosely on facts. Same applies to a lot of the financial news we get from feeds on various platforms. One week $NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$ Is going to beat $1.30, the next it's going to $1.10.
Personally, I don't care. I invest in stocks based on their long term prospects. I try to be patient and pick up more of something I've done my research on if it dips to my buy price. If I don't have a lot of spare cash my new strategy is to buy long calls to lock in the low price that I can then excise when I have the coin.
I also like to right down rules for myself. My latest rule is: don't go short in options, you might be convinced the stock is about to go ballistic but in the short term it might Not do that, even though according to you it should.
$Rocket Lab USA, Inc.(RKLB)$ Was a prime example of this for me last week, almost got to $6 and with all the tailwinds in its favour I think it could easily go to $7 in the next few weeks. It closed the week at $5.24, so what the frack do I know, right!
I'm confident that it will go up long term, totally a no brainer. But for me options are a way bigger bet than the underlying stock because options expire. Big fan of the show porn stars, why? Because I like to read the people coming in to sell their items, some clearly are just interested in what it's worth, others well you can see they are desperate. It's never a good time to sell cause your desperate. And short options create a potential desperate situation.
So why even trade options? Well it's greed, the potential to make better returns, or as an insurance policy if you are wrong. To be fair, I'm still an options bunny, skiing the learner slopes badly. So for me, it's buy long calls only in stocks that I really really know. I'm sure this will change if I get comfortable on the bunny slopes I'm currently on.
But the lesson for me is learn the snow plow well, and don't pretend you can parallel the skirt fronts until you actually can.
Fruitful trading fellow tigers, this is not a market downturn, just a very temporary pull back. Would some like you to panic sell so they can grab your stocks? Why yes. But you only loose if you sell, or made a bad choice. long term, for eg $Visa(V)$ If you have owned it for 10 years, do you really care if it's down 50%, no because you are still up. Time in the market and the odds will always be in your favour
