There is no child that's stupid or untalented; every child has a hidden talent, waiting to be discovered and nurtured. And nurturing in itself is a painful process. Heard of '铁棒磨成针' and '台上一分钟,台下十年功'? A diamond would just be an ugly rock in the rough if not for all the painful grindings.
We were all children once. Who likes studying? Everyone loves the easy way out. And if us parents do not advocate the importance of education, who will? Leave it to their teachers, tutors and society? No, because they are our children and our responsibility. I've seen many parents blame educators for their children's failures and that irks me. Parents these days ought to do better.
Like I repeatedly emphasise to my children; it is not the content that we study that's important. Rather, it's the rigor of the Singapore's education system that we take away with us into adulthood - skills like communication, social skills, tenacity, perseverance, determination, critical thinking and problem solving, seeing the big picture, ability to multi-task and produce results within a designated time frame without crumbling and giving up easily etc. And to understand the adage '努力是成功之母'.
At school, I was the over-achiever who topped classes and cohorts; undeniably and unwittingly making people green with envy. As such, I have the capacity and capability to impart invaluable knowledge to my children, so I don't see why not.
I told my kids that everyone in the family should work hard together and play hard together. I want my kids to be multifaceted; to excel not only in academics, but in music, martial arts and whatever that interests them. Most importantly, they must give their best shot in whatever they pursue without throwing in the towel easily. And if I set the bar that high for my children, I lead by example and set the bar higher for myself when it comes to investing. 所谓的上梁不正下梁歪.
We only live once and if it's not spent giving our best shot at everything we can while we have the time, youth, money and health for it, then it would be a waste of life isn't it?
There are many who are not blessed to see another day and have many unfulfilled aspirations / dreams. Hence, we should make every second of our time count. Don't waste precious time doing nonsense that you'd regret after.
To put it bluntly, it's pointless lamenting about not being born with a silver spoon in one's mouth.
So go out there, seize the day, persevere and write your own destiny!
Do something for yourself today that your future self will thank you for.
Take action now.
If not now, then when?

Wow!💥 Kia ora, my dear Sis! 🇸🇬🌟
Brace yourself, because your parenting style to me sounds like a turbo-charged rocket ship blasting through the hawker centres of Singapore! 🚀 You’ve got the precision of a Hainanese chicken rice master and the determination of a durian lover finding the perfect Mao Shan Wang. I mean, talk about setting the bar ~ you’re practically pole-vaulting over Marina Bay Sands while everyone else is just queuing up for the best char kway teow! 🌉
You’ve got your kids training like kung fu masters in every discipline ~ academics, music, martial arts. I wouldn’t be surprised if they could whip up a mean bowl of laksa while solving algebra equations and playing Beethoven’s Fifth on the guzheng. 🎻🥋 And with you leading by example, they’re bound to turn into multifaceted superstars who could give Singapore Airlines a run for its reputation. (Forget about ‘The Singapore Girl’ ~ you’re the real icon! ✈️)
Now, your whole philosophy about nurturing through the grind? Absolute shiok! The way you’re shaping those kids, they’ll be sharper than a satay skewer and tougher than a perfectly grilled stingray. And let’s be honest, with all that ‘铁棒磨成针’ wisdom, they’re going to turn out as polished as a gem fresh out of the Tanglin Jewelers. 💎✨
And speaking of gems, your approach to investing is pure nasi lemak—every element perfectly balanced and packed with flavour. Heck, you’ve probably got Temasek Holdings, the crown jewel of Singapore, taking notes! It’s clear that when you say “persevere and write your own destiny,” you’re not just talking the talk ~ you’re gliding through Maxwell Food Centre like it’s your personal runway. If you keep this up, I’ll need a drone just to keep track of how high you’ve soared! 🌠
Your blend of nurture and nature isn’t just about raising kids; it’s about cultivating the future leaders of Singapore, one exam at a time!
Now, let’s talk about trading. You’re not just an amazing mum ~ you’re an absolute powerhouse in the market! The way you handle Bitcoin is like watching a master chef whip up a perfect Hainanese chicken rice ~ every move is precise, every trade a feast! 🍚 And don’t even get me started on options. I’m still in awe of how you taught me the ropes ~ now I’m flipping those contracts like prata at the night market! 🥞
So, Sis, what’s your next big play? With your wit and wisdom, you might just start trading in Hokkien mee futures! 🍜 Are you ready to show the market that it’s no match for my mighty Space Rocket Sis? 🚀 Let’s see who hits the stars first! Your investments are hotter than a plate of sambal belacan!
Cheers, BC 🍀
