Options Market Statistics: SMCI Stock Falls on Short Seller's Accounting Allegations; Options Pop

Wall Street is broadly optimistic about Nvidia's stock ahead of its Wednesday earnings report, with nearly all analysts covering the chip giant giving it buy or equivalent ratings, according to Visible Alpha. The consensus price target suggests a 14% premium to Tuesday's close. Nvidia's shares have surged over 150% this year, making its upcoming quarterly results one of the week's most anticipated stock-market events. The mean consensus price target is $145.69, with individual targets ranging from $100 to $180.


$SUPER MICRO COMPUTER INC(SMCI)$  shares fell 2.64% Tuesday to close at $547.64. Its options trading volume was 0.22 million. Call contracts account for 47% of the total trading volume. The $700 calls expiring Aug. 30 were traded most actively.

Short seller Hindenburg Research accused Super Micro Computer (SMCI) of accounting manipulation, export control failures, and customer issues, causing SMCI stock to drop 2.6%. Hindenburg's report, based on a three-month investigation, included interviews with former employees and a review of various records. The firm found significant accounting red flags and has taken a short position against Super Micro. Previously, Super Micro faced SEC charges and a Nasdaq delisting for financial statement failures. As of the report, Super Micro had not commented.


$Marathon Digital Holdings Inc(MARA)$ shares fell 4.36% Tuesday to close at $17.75. Its options trading volume was 0.20 million. Call contracts account for 75.5% of the total trading volume. The $19 calls expiring Aug. 30 were traded most actively.
