Why Apple And Tesla the first to diverge?

On the first trading day of 2025, U.S. stocks opened lower and higher, with $.IXIC(.IXIC)$ reversing several times, and $.DJI(.DJI)$ rising 360 points before turning down nearly 370 points.

The plate is seriously polarized, $Apple(AAPL)$ fell nearly 3%, $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ eep down 7.6%, but the chip index $Philadelphia Semiconductor Index(SOX)$ $NVIDIA(NVDA)$ energy $Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund(XLE)$ and photovoltaics are higher.

  1. Apple's pullback was relatively unexpected. There is no big news on the news, and the end of the year this wave of rise is not very strong logic, more like investors "end of the year after the empty position of the group warming up", this is the disk is not much choice of a performance. Can only say that the first day of the year, stacked excess funds have withdrawn.

  2. While Tesla's stock price isn't too directly related to fundamentals, there were two events that also impacted investor sentiment:

  • One was Q4 deliveries of 495,570 units, well below expectations of 506,673 units and the first decline in 10 years.Since the biggest concern for investors about Tesla in 2024 is its margins, the lower the deliveries the greater the impact on margins.

  • The other is the Cybertruck bombing, the driver of which has now been identified and is increasingly linked to the New Orleans attackers. This is actually not good news for investors, suggesting that this is coming at Elon Musk and is part of the fallout from standing up to Trump.
