My Options Puppy Journey: Earning $100+ in a Day with Cash-Secured Puts

As an investor, I position myself as a disciplined learner in the markets, focusing on covered calls and cash-secured puts under the framework of my “Options Puppy” journey. With a background in accounting studies, I have developed a strong foundation in financial analysis, capital allocation, and risk management. This discipline enables me to balance safety with opportunity, seeking consistent growth while respecting the risks inherent in the markets.

Setting the Stage – October 1, 2025

The trading day began with a clear focus on Palantir (PLTR), a stock that has long been in my options watchlist due to its strong liquidity, heavy retail participation, and increasing institutional interest. My strategy revolved around selling puts at attractive strike prices, ensuring that every position was fully cash-secured. This approach shields me from excessive leverage while granting me peace of mind that, if assigned, I would be buying quality shares at a discount.

On October 1, 2025, I executed multiple trades. I sold the PLTR 195 strike PUT expiring March 2026 at $35.15, while also managing earlier positions such as the 200 strike PUT and the 180 strike PUT. The sequence of trades, entered from midnight through early morning, allowed me to capture premiums in quick succession. By day’s end, I had locked in over $100 in net profit, proving once again that disciplined premium selling can yield meaningful cash flow in just 24 hours.

The Mechanics – How I Earned $100+ in a Day

Looking at the transactions:

• Bought back PLTR PUT 200 strike at $32.65 (earlier sold at $32.90)

• Sold PLTR PUT 195 strike at $35.15

• Closed positions for a realized profit of around $66.75, while rolling into new premium income streams.

This steady churning of positions is a crucial part of my options style. I do not hold blindly; I manage actively. By buying back positions early when profits appear, I recycle capital into fresher trades with higher theta (time decay). The compounding effect allows me to grow earnings while keeping risk exposures under watch.

Over time, even these $100 days add up significantly. Just 10 similar days in a month would generate over $1,000 in option premiums—an amount capable of covering many living expenses, or in my case, contributing to housing loan repayments and reinvestments.

Technical Analysis – Timing the Trades

The success of options selling is not only about fundamentals, but also about timing. On the chart of PLTR, I observed several technical signals:

• Support zones were forming near prior lows, giving confidence that the $180 and $195 strike levels were sufficiently below resistance.

• Volume profile showed heavy accumulation during dips, hinting at strong buyer interest.

• SAR (Stop and Reverse) indicator flashed early bullish momentum, suggesting downside pressure was limited in the short term.

These signals aligned with my decision to sell puts aggressively. Technical analysis gave me confidence that the probability of assignment was lower, and even if assignment occurred, I would be content holding PLTR shares at a cost basis discounted by the premium received.

Risk and Reward – The Full Picture

While my earnings of $100+ in a day are attractive, I am mindful of the risks. Selling cash-secured puts means I am obligated to buy shares at the strike price if assigned. For instance, selling a 195 PUT means I must buy PLTR at $195 if the stock falls below that level by expiration. If the stock collapses to $150, I would face paper losses, partially offset by the premium collected.

The reward is straightforward: consistent income through option premiums, often at double-digit annualized yields. In this case, the $35 premium on a $19,500 notional exposure represents nearly 1.8% return for the period—and if repeated multiple times annually, the compounding return becomes significant.

The risk is equally real: a sharp downturn in PLTR would force me into an underwater position. That is why I always insist on cash-secured trades. I never use margin recklessly, and I ensure that I only sell puts on companies I am willing to own long term. Palantir fits that bill, as I believe in its growth trajectory, especially with AI adoption and government contracts.

My Broader Strategy – Stability Meets Income

My investing philosophy is built on layers of safety. At the foundation lies Singapore government bonds, which provide a guaranteed yield and stability. On top of that, I add Tiger Vault strategies for flexible liquidity. Finally, I employ options premium selling to generate extra monthly income.

This tri-layered strategy enables me to service housing loans and living expenses without financial strain. It is not about chasing windfalls, but about compounding steady wins. Even $100 days, repeated over months, create a strong stream of cash flow that can rival salary income.

The Discipline of Financial Freedom

Beyond numbers, I hold firm to my freedom rules:

1. Disciplined capital management – I never risk more than what I am prepared to hold.

2. Prudent expenditure control – Needs come before wants, so my options income is reinvested instead of consumed recklessly.

3. Resilience in volatility – By structuring cash-secured trades, I embrace volatility as an ally, not a threat.

This mindset transforms trading from gambling into a systematic approach. My background in accounting reinforces this discipline, as I view every option contract as part of a larger financial statement—assets, liabilities, risks, and returns must all be balanced.

Closing Thoughts – From Options Puppy to Financial Independence

The journey of trading is ongoing. On October 1, 2025, I celebrated a modest but meaningful milestone: earning over $100 in a day through cash-secured puts on Palantir. The process involved analyzing charts, managing trades actively, and respecting both the risks and rewards of premium selling.

I remain committed to my Options Puppy journey, where every trade is both a lesson and a building block. Step by step, I aim to grow my capital, secure my independence, and one day, run with the big dogs of the investing world.

The sp continues on the path it deserves: rising given its unmatched value-prop in a growing Ai field. Six months ago when it was ~$100, I said $150 by eoy. Looks like $225 is possible.
