August Trade Recap and September Outlook
Add Value:
To provide some background, my position in this stock started out as an opportunistic buy and it did go up after my purchase but I did not take profit. I was then left bag holding when the price plunged to 0.13-0.15. I decided to average down in August. Now it has gone up even above my original cost basis and I’m a happy camper. The anticipation surrounding the spin-off Nasdaq listing looks set to keep the momentum up.
Olam:
I made the decision to increase my position when it dropped to what I thought was a fairly safe price point on the day before ex-dividend. It turned out to be a bad call. I got 7cts of dividend per share but the stock price broke through support and dropped more than 20cts in just a few days after ex-dividend.
In hindsight I should have cut loss when the market dropped more than the dividend on ex-dividend day. I was concerned it would go below $1 but thankfully it seemed to have stabilised for now.
I think there is still upside if any special dividend is declared from the divestment of assets but there are currently headwinds due to inflation caused by the Strait of Hormuz conflict which can cause working capital requirement to go up.
HR Net:
I had been keeping an eye on this stock because of the more than 5% dividend yield. The price had been quite stable, not dropping much after the previous ex-dividend so with the cum dividend of 2.2 cents, I decided to open a position.
I’m a bit surprised the price has gone down a little bit after my purchase. I guess this could be because of the smaller free float which is around 20% of the total number of shares.

- MatthewWalter·19:02Addvalue side sounds better now, but I care more about the spin-off timeline and what existing shareholders actually get. Any official guidance on that yetLikeReport
