Core antitrust allegation
The lawsuit alleges that the four companies — as competitors — reached an illegal agreement to coordinate and slow the pace of frontier AI development, violating Section 1 of the Sherman Act.
The plaintiffs are not arguing that a company cannot slow its own AI development for safety reasons. Their claim is narrower: competitors allegedly collectively agreed to restrain product improvement, meaning consumers could pay the same subscription price but receive slower model upgrades
