Market Participation Comes First
Most traders start with the wrong question:
Are you bullish or bearish?
The first question should be:
Is this market environment even worth deploying capital into?
You can have the right directional bias and still get chopped up if the market isn’t giving you clean conditions.
My framework is simple:
1. In or out
2. Then long or short
Directional bias comes after the decision to participate.
You don’t need 20 great trades a month. You may only need 2–3 big, high-conviction trades in a month or quarter to make your year.
Everything else can be scratches. That’s fine.
The goal isn’t to trade constantly.
Participate selectively. Then press when the environment, direction, and catalyst all line up.
And Q4 is starting to look like a period I want meaningful exposure to.
No need to FOMO yet.
But after roughly four months of brutal summer consolidation, if the market starts preparing for a breakout with:
• Strong seasonal tendencies
• A president openly focused on the stock market
• A potential easing of geopolitical risk
• AI earnings season approaching
• A market that has spent months building energy
…and you’re not at least watching for long-side opportunities, I’m not sure what you’re waiting for.
Patience first. Exposure when the setup confirms.
Markets are always moving - and sometimes, the best move is knowing what works for you.
With Treasury yields, oil prices and rate expectations keeping markets on edge this week, investors are once again thinking carefully about where to position next. There’s no one-size-fits-all choice in investing — and the same goes for Tiger Merch. This month’s hot picks are in, featuring the Tiger Toiletry Bag, Universal Travel Adapter, Tiger Umbrella and more favourites chosen by fellow Tigers.
