🐶 Options Puppy’s Market Diary: Wednesday, 14 October 2026 TigerTrade

🐾 Three things that could make Wall Street wag its tail — or bite back!

Today is a big day for my trading watchlist. I have US September CPI inflation data, major financial-sector earnings, semiconductor equipment results, and Anthropic’s pre-IPO investor day to watch. My job as Options Puppy is simple: I don’t chase every green candle, and I don’t panic at every red candle. I sniff out opportunities and manage my risk! 🐶📈

🐶 1. 🇺🇸 September CPI — the inflation boss fight

At 8:30pm Singapore time, the US September Consumer Price Index (CPI) arrives. This is the number that could make the market bark loudly. Investors are watching whether inflation is cooling or whether higher energy costs are keeping prices stubbornly high.

* 🟢 Cooler-than-expected CPI: Investors may become more optimistic about interest-rate cuts, potentially supporting growth stocks such as NVIDIA and other technology companies.

* 🔴 Hotter-than-expected CPI: Bond yields could rise, putting pressure on expensive technology stocks.

* 🐕 Options Puppy’s move: I won’t blindly sell puts just because the market dips. I want to see how prices react after the data, because volatility can make options premiums look delicious while hiding a nasty bite.

🏦 2. Bank of America, Morgan Stanley and BlackRock — follow the money

Bank earnings can tell me whether businesses are borrowing, investors are trading, and wealthy clients are still investing.

* 🏦 Bank of America (BAC): I watch net interest income, loan quality, deposit costs and management’s outlook.

* 📈 Morgan Stanley (MS): I look at wealth-management assets, investment banking and trading revenue.

* 💰 BlackRock (BLK): I want to know whether clients are adding money to investment funds and whether market movements are helping assets under management.

These companies are scheduled to report results on 14 October.

My Options Puppy rule? A company can report good earnings and still see its stock fall. If investors were expecting fantastic results, merely good results may disappoint them.

I won’t sell a cash-secured put simply because the stock drops after earnings. First, I ask myself: Would I genuinely be happy owning 100 shares at my strike price if the stock falls another 10%? If the answer is no, I keep my paws off that trade.

🤖 3. ASML — the semiconductor equipment watchdog

ASML matters because it supplies advanced lithography equipment used in semiconductor manufacturing. Its results and outlook can help investors assess chipmakers’ spending plans and the broader AI hardware investment cycle.

If ASML delivers strong results and guidance, semiconductor sentiment could improve. If its outlook disappoints, chip stocks could face pressure even if the long-term AI story remains attractive.

🐶 I will not assume that good ASML results automatically mean NVIDIA must rise. Different companies face different expectations, valuations and risks.

🤖 4. Anthropic pre-IPO investor day — AI excitement versus reality

Anthropic’s investor day could attract attention to the artificial-intelligence sector. Investors may focus on AI demand, computing costs, competition and the amount of capital required to build AI infrastructure.

But here’s my puppy warning: private-company excitement is not the same as a publicly traded investment opportunity. I won’t buy an AI stock merely because investors are excited about a potential IPO.

🐾 My Options Puppy trading checklist

Before 8:30pm SGT

Check market sentiment, bond yields and the stocks on my watchlist. Avoid opening positions just because premiums look attractive.

After the CPI release

Watch the initial market reaction and whether the move holds. I don’t need to catch the first candle.

Manage my options risk

Check position size, buying power, expiration and assignment risk. Earnings and inflation releases can cause sharp moves and expensive options.

🐶 Final thoughts: I want premium, not problems!

My goal is to collect options premiums when the risk makes sense, not to earn a few dollars today and lose a large amount tomorrow. CPI could influence interest-rate expectations, bank earnings could shift financial-sector sentiment, and ASML could affect semiconductor sentiment.

I will stay patient, watch the market reaction and only sell puts at prices where I am comfortable owning the shares. A disciplined Options Puppy survives another trading day to hunt for the next opportunity! 🐶💰

This is market commentary, not a guarantee of how prices will move. Options can result in substantial losses, including losses far exceeding the premium received on some strategies.

ASML earnings and semi equipment demand are the real tell today, CPI is just short term noise. Backlog and capex commentary will matter more
