🎁 Write & Win|Buying the Dip? What Are You Buying?

The market has been a little wild lately.

After a strong run, some of the market's hottest stocks have pulled back, finally putting a few names on investors' watchlists at more attractive prices.

Some investors are already buying the dip: “This is the opportunity I've been waiting for!”

Some are staying patient: “Not yet—it could fall further.”

And others are looking at their portfolios thinking: “I've got no cash left to buy more…”

So, here's the question:

Have you bought the dip?

Are you adding to your favorite long-term holdings, keeping cash on the sidelines for better prices, or waiting because you think the market hasn't bottomed yet?

💬 Not sure what to write? Start here 👇

Pick any angle that speaks to you:

① Share your latest dip buy
What did you buy, and what price convinced you to pull the trigger?

② Share your buy-the-dip watchlist
Which stock have you been watching, and what price are you waiting for?

③ Tell us about a position that's testing you
After the drop, are you buying more, holding on, or cutting your losses?

④ If you had $10,000 today, what would you buy?
Go all in on your favorite stock, diversify, or keep the cash?

⑤ Is it really time to buy the dip?
If you're still on the sidelines, what signal are you waiting for?

Whether you're buying the dip, staying on the sidelines, or cutting your losses, share your real trades and investment thinking with the community.

My Take: Staying Calm and Finding Opportunities During the Latest Market Pullback.

The latest market pullback reminds me of one important lesson in investing: the market does not always move in the direction we expect, and sometimes patience is more valuable than trying to predict every move.

When I see stock prices falling, my first instinct is not to panic-sell everything. Instead, I take a step back and review my portfolio. Is the decline caused by short-term market sentiment, concerns about interest rates, or a genuine deterioration in the company's business fundamentals? Understanding the reason behind the drop helps me make more rational decisions rather than reacting emotionally to red numbers on my screen.

One stock I would keep on my watchlist is NVIDIA (NVDA). I believe AI and semiconductor demand remain important long-term themes, but that does not mean its share price will rise continuously. Valuation, earnings expectations and competition still matter.

im waiting for more information and fed move. volatility is still around the corner and too early to make any move right now. Best to take a look and readjust my portfolio and expectation ahead. year end is a good time to reflect aloud strategy and goal. stay focus and not following market flow all the way.

When the market falls, I choose to be greedy in the sense of seeing opportunity rather than giving in to fear. A market drop often means quality stocks are available at discounted prices, and this is when long-term investors can accumulate good positions. While fear may push others to sell, maintaining a clear strategy and a calm mindset allows me to act with confidence and patience. In short, a falling market is a reminder to stay rational, stick to my investment plan, and take advantage of the opportunities that volatility creates.

PCT: My Coffee Can Portfolio v1.0 :
PCT = Pandas Coffee Can v1.0:

My 5 Shares Coffee Can Portfolio:
    DBS.
    OCBC.
    UOB.
    SPCX.
    NVDA.

A Coffee Can Portfolio is a long-term, "buy-and-forget" investment strategy where you select a basket of high-quality stocks, put them away, and hold them untouched for at least 10 years to let compound growth work without emotional trading.

    Core Principles

    • Low Churn: Avoid buying and selling frequently to cut down on transaction costs, commissions, and capital gains taxes.
    • Extreme Patience: Keep the portfolio locked away for a minimum of 10 to 30 years, resisting the urge to react to short-term market noise.
    • Power of Asymmetry: Losers in the portfolio can only drop by a maximum of 100% (limiting downside to your initial stake), while winning companies have uncapped upside potential over decades.

    Common Selection Criteria:
    1. Track Record.
    2. Return of Capital.
    3. Growth.
    4. Competitive Moat

Have been accumulating singtel given their price recent weaknesses - get ready for the upcoming H2 results/dividends expected in November and also due to the expected successful debut trading of Mynt in Philippines next week.

This market is providing very good opportunities to buy quality companies. I have been buying Mapletree Industrial Trust and ComfortDelGro, both of which have dropped substantially and offer very good dividend returns. They are established companies in Singapore and I want a piece of the business to ride through this rough patch and rise with the company when the economy recovers! Diversification is key and commitment is needed.

The current market creates a lot of jitters. So far I have been accumulating Singapore REITs such as CFA, CLR and MPACT. I also bought some 9CI to build a dividend income base. When the interest rate drops in a couple of years time, the yield would be attractive. For now, we have to hang on. We duno what will happen as no one could predict the market. We place every trade with a risk that we are comfortable with and wait for the next wave.
