You Don't Need to Quit Your 9–5 to Become a Profitable Trader
The biggest lie in trading is that you can't make money because you work a full-time job.
You don't need to watch charts all day. You need about 30 minutes to prepare your $SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust(SPY)$ watchlist and identify potential setups.
Here's a simple routine:
1. Find 4–6 stocks to watch
Focus on stocks with:
-
The highest trading volume
-
The biggest catalysts
-
The strongest percentage gains
2. Mark your key levels
Before the opening bell, identify:
-
Previous day's high
-
Previous day's low
-
Premarket high
-
Premarket low
-
Previous day's close
-
Market open
3. Focus on the opening hour
When the market opens at 9:30 AM EST, you only need to actively watch for 30 minutes to an hour at most.
The biggest mistake new traders make is believing they need to trade every day.
They don't.
Some days, your setup simply won't appear. Forcing a trade, overtrading or settling for a B+ setup can quickly turn a disciplined strategy into a cycle of mistakes.
Whether you trade part-time or full-time, you have to be comfortable finishing the day with zero trades.
Protecting your capital is a position, too.
