  1. currently there is a very high cost to borrow. to the extent that even Tiger doesnt allow shorting AMC shares anymore
  2. high ctb is correlated with high demand to short + difficult to find shares to borrow. when need to cover, it could blow up
  3. Clearing all debt would kill the shorts thesis

  I'm just using arbitrary numbers to illustrate my point. Whether this will trigger the squeeze is really unknown. However, the current circumstances are vastly different from back then when retail voted No to dilution.

  This is just my opinion. I believe that a No vote will be extremely harmful. AA wants to save the biz and will drop more shares regardless of the vote. The question is: To clear the 5B debt, is it better to drop 1B shares at a dollar for APE or 250M shares at say 20 bucks after RS.
