$Electronic Arts(EA)$ says it is developing a mobile game based on "The Lord of the Rings" in partnership with Middle-earth Enterprises, which owns rights to the popular fantasy franchise. EA has been working to expand its presence in mobile with recent acquisitions of companies such as Glu Mobile. Mobile games represent the most lucrative corner of the overall videogame industry, yet the category makes up the smallest portion of EA's net bookings. EA says the new game, called "The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth," will be in the collectible role-playing genre and is expected to enter limited regional beta testing this summer.
