Newbie wondering about our Friendly Skies
Ok, so the volume of passengers at our local Singapore Changi Airport has returned to 40% of pre-covid levels after covid measures have eased. Projections expected are up to 50% by the end of the year.
Pilots have their pay restored and better wages are expected in the next 2 years. In the mean time, a manpower crunch is expected (a happy problem, it has been said) due to the increase in operations in the next 6 months.
So I was wondering why aren't aviation shares rising as much?
Well, it could be because $SINGAPORE AIRLINES LTD(C6L.SI)$are heavily in debt. But this is pretty much due to covid. I am not sure if the current perspective is one of wait and see, but I think it's a good time to go in now. My projection is that it will reach $9 mid next year.
I think many people are "bursting" to leave the country to go on holiday (incidentally Japan has just opened) so I'm actually expecting this Jun and Def to be pretty busy. However, this is not reflected in its current price and I wonder when it will be. But until then, I guess I will load up on Singapore Airlines (although SIA engineering could be a choice) bit by bit. Ido not think it will be affected much by external factors such as the unrest in Ukraine or looming (possible) recession.
Those are my thoughts. What do you think?
