【Interview】Koolgal:Find quality stocks and ETFs to invest in
In terms of her investment goals, @Koolgal is considering passive income generated from her portfolio so that she will be able to be financially independent and retire early at a young age.It is because of this reason that she shares her research on stocks and ETFs within the Tiger Community each day. Tiger friends, have you noticed this?
@koolgal
I am Koolgal. My goal in life is FIRE - Financial Independence Retire Early.
Q:Can you share with us your investment story
I started investing in unit trusts in the beginning 5 years ago. Then I was searching for something that would help me build a passive income. That's how I got started trading in stocks. I love stocks and ETFs that give me good dividends and have solid fundamentals.
Q:What are your investment preferences?
I am a long term investor so I tend to buy and hold stocks for a long time. My favourite stocks are bank stocks like DBS, OCBC and UOB. I also like ETFs like SPLG, SPYV and ES3.SI.$SPDR Portfolio S&P 500 Value ETF(SPYV)$ $STI ETF(ES3.SI)$ $SPDR Portfolio S&P 500 ETF(SPLG)$ $Invesco DB Silver Fund(DBS)$
Q:Your article caught my attention,Are you also interested in investing in Australian stocks?
Yes I like Australian stocks as they pay good dividends. They are a form of diversification from Singapore and US stocks. My favourites are Westpac Banking, IOZ.AU, AFI.AU. ARG.AU.$iShares Core S&P/ASX 200(IOZ.AU)$ $Australian Foundation(AFI.AU)$
Q:Can you tell us your most unforgettable investing story
My most unforgettable stock is DBS. It dropped to below 20 when Covid-19 hit and now it is up 31. I am holding DBS long term.
Q:Do you have any new insights on recent market fluctuations?
I embrace volatility in the markets. I recognise that market fluctuations are normal and offers a great opportunity to bargain hunt quality stocks at big discounts. As my time horizon is long term say 10 to 20 years, I am not too worried about market fluctuations because I believe that quality stocks will continue to grow exponentially in the long term.
Q:How do you do stock investment research in your everyday life? Do you have any research methods for newcomers?
I like to keep up to date with the latest news and developments by reading Wall Street Journal, The Edge, Business Times and Morningstar. I also read posts by Tiger and my Tiger Friends for my research too.
Q:Do you have any new insights on recent market fluctuations?
We are experiencing unprecedented events currently - The war in Ukraine, Covid 19 pandemic, high inflation, supply constraints especially oil, rising interest rates. But all these events will come and go. With inflation, it is especially important to stay invested in a diversified portfolio of assets.
Q:I would like to know whose articles you are most looking forward to reading among the tiger trading investors that you are familiar with?
I love reading blogs by Alvin邹咏翰 and @AdamKhoo. They are very knowledgeable and experienced in trading.
Q:Besides investing, how would you describe your day-to-day life?
When I am not investing, I love to read, go to the gym and experiment cooking new dishes.
Q:What would you like to say to Tiger friends in our community?
Have a long term view on investing and do not be too worried about market fluctuations. It's time in the markets that count, not timing the markets.
Q:What other investment content are you looking forward to sharing?
I am constantly researching on quality stocks and ETFs to invest in. I will love to share my views with the Tiger community.
Thanks again to Koolgal for the great content.
