TravelCenters Buyout

$TravelCenters of America LLC(TA)$ has run up a tremendous gain up over 70% in early trading on Thursday to push its share price to $84.30, after an acquisition offer from $BP PLC(BP)$, the tender offer price is $86 per share, which is 1.9% above last price.

TravelCenters of America is retailer owns a network of about 281 highway sites across 44 states, which made it attractive to BP as a bolt-on addition to its own network. TravelCenters of America (TA) CEO Jonathan Pertchik issued a statement,

"We have improved our core travel center business, expanded our network, launched eTA to prepare for the future of alternative fuels and improved our operating and financial results, none of which we could have accomplished without the hard work and dedication of our employees at every level."

It's shares offer a bit of upside from here and the stock looks undervalued in the event that the deal in question were to fail.

Twilio Earning Boost?

$Twilio(TWLO)$ shares soared 14% after the cloud communications software company reported fourth-quarter results that handily beat Wall Street estimates and issued strong guidance for the start of 2023. It had more than 290,000 active customer accounts at the end of its fiscal year, up 256,000 in the year-ago period. It also had 110% net dollar expansion rate in the period, down from 126% in the year-ago period.

At the same time, it's GAAP operating income still negative and has already laied off 17% of its employees.

What's interesting is he company also initiated a $1B share buyback program.

Is that means the company has no further investment or development to do? Or, just capital expense doesn't has marginal effect anymore?

It's not a good sign for a growth company anyway.

Apple Lay off?

$Apple(AAPL)$ has reportedly started to let go some of its contractors in recent days, which thus far avoided the mass layoffs that have claimed tens of thousands of workers at Amazon, Google, Meta and Microsoft – has quietly begun axing contractors, On The Money has learned.

It involves workers technically employed by outside agencies who work alongside Apple employees on projects – in what looks like a stealthy move to cut costs.

Apple has avoided the mass layoffs that some of its competitors in the tech industry has resorted to as the economic uncertainty continues.

Etsy.com on big shorts?

$Etsy(ETSY)$ drops amid negative report from Citron Research, who alleges that Etsy isn't doing enough to police possible counterfeit goods from being sold on its site.

The report on Etsy comes as short seller Citron Research has largely stayed away from publicly shorting stocks since the meme stock crazy started in early 2021

Citron believes Etsy is walking on eggshells with the FTC, DOJ, SEC, Customs and Border Protection, and the multitude of brands whose trademarks are being stolen and exploited daily.

Tesla on recall... Again?

$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ will recall 362,758 vehicles due to the risk that the electric vehicle giant's full self-driving beta software could cause a crash.

The vehicles under the recall order from the National Highway Safety Traffic Administration include some 2016-2023 Model S vehicles, Model X vehicles, 2017-2023 Model 3 vehicles, and 2020-2023 Model Y vehicles that are equipped with Full Self-Driving Beta software or pending installations. The recall will be enacted through an over-the-air software update.

The NHTSA stated that Tesla (TSLA) did not agree with the agency's analysis.
