Boeing said to plan $24M investment for logistics center in India
Boeing $Boeing(BA)$ will invest about $24 million on a logistics center in India to supply airplane parts as the company awaits a major order from Air India, Reuters reported.
The carrier, which is owned by Tata Group, is expected to announce an agreement to buy about 500 jets valued at more than $100 billion at list prices from Boeing (BA) and rival Airbus (OTCPK:EADSF).
Boeing's (BA) piece of the deal totals 220 planes, including 190 737 Max single-aisle jets, 20 787 double-aisle planes, and 10 777Xs, Reuters reported previously.
The new logistics center will help Boeing (BA) to improve access to parts, making aircraft more available to airlines, Salil Gupte, president of Boeing’s (BA) local unit, said to Reuters.
The aircraft maker estimated that India’s airlines will need 2,200 new plans in the next 20 years as the country’s growing middle class increases demand for travel.
