Be a Pro Writer I - How to Get a Good Title?
How to make your article competitive? How to attract tigers to click on your posts?
Good titles should be concise and eye-catching. Nobody likes long and cumbersome headings that do not reflect the point.
How to entice the reader?
1. Data & Comparison
Apple is just 8.3% from $3 trillion market cap Numbers can precisely tell readers what happens here or make them feel overwhelmed.
In this case, just 8.3% and 3 trln make a comparison.
For investors who are familiar with Apple, 3trln can lure them into reading this post because investors, of course, want Apple to regain its 3trln market cap;
For investors who are not familiar with Apple, 3 trln is huge enough to make them feel overwhelmed and want to figure out what it is.
2. Use a strange or unique image
Tesla and Alpha can be naturally connected in the stock market. However, "banana" won't collocate with "split" nor Tesla.
This image makes readers wonder why it is banana, and how it correlates with Tesla and its split.
3. Write your title as a question
Ignore the Fed, Interest Rates, and Most News?
Different from other skills, question form is generally forbidden in formal essay writing. However, question forms can make readers keep thinking about this question when they are reading.
In this case, the author tells you to ignore Fed and rate hikes, which is counter-intuitive. Plus, the author uses a question mark to make you think about this question: whether should I ignore the Fed or not. Readers may get hooked on this question.
How to keep your title concise and informative?
1. Incorporate keywords
Life-saving option strategy in volatile market
These are crucial words that apply to your topic and give your reader a sense of the content and angle of your article.
In this case, "option" & "volatile market" are two keywords that help readers get the main topic in this article. The keywords help your articles demonstrate its identity.
2. Find a proper word
For TOPIC "what would you do for a market crash", LMsunshine offers us a "toolkit". Most investors are concerned about what kinds of tools we can use in a market crash.
If we replaced the toolkit with tools, this title might become less comprehensive as the original one. This title is both concise and informative.
3. Emphasis
Generally speaking, the words in the title should be either all capital or lowercase letters.
In this case, the author use the capitalized "ISN'T" to emphasize the tone. It's also eye-catching with only this word all in capital letters.
