NIO - why its shares plunged 8.5% ? Here's another view !

Originally I had wanted to post the latest update on NIO's week 2 Nov 2022 delivery as just another of my updates in the Tiger community.

However upon reading the article published by Motley Fool (refer to below link), the Post that I am drafting and presenting now takes a different slant. Facts remains status quo.

Let's see it makes sense ok.

References :

https://www.fool.com/investing/2022/11/16/why-nio-shares-plunged-today/ (Motley's article).

https://cnevpost.com/2022/11/15/china-nev-insurance-registrations-in-2nd-week-of-nov/ (NIO's Nov week 2 delivery)

Precursor :

Please read linked article and form your own opinion first ok. Thanks.

Could you tell the significance differences between the 2 articles ?

Personally, thought the first was clickbait-y right from the start with the subject title; tilting towards attracting the curious.

In addtion, article was short on facts. Still relying on "old" news about China's covid policy. Really !

Such article stale on latest and still gets published makes one wonder whether there is a editor acting as a responsible gatekeeper to distill facts from out-dated facts, leaking into the world and gets picked up by mistake ?

In a world that is constantly inundated with news, coming from left, right and centre - it is becoming increasingly difficult to filter and sieve off what is current and what is history ?

Always have to remind myself that in the current internet-age, it is untrue that everything out there in the space, is the most current & accurate. Always put on the critical hat to think for oneself. We are masters of our own ship no ?

On the second article, its concise and jumped straight into what the article intended - no beating around the bush.

Hot off last week's tabulation and onto the table for all to devour. (Oops, description is a lil crude but guessed you get the drift !).

NIO's week2 delivery vs week 1

Facts :

As with similar Postings in recent past, my focus is mainly on the following EVs - BYD, Tesla, NIO, Li Auto Xpeng

Increasingly other Chinese EV makers are gradually making an impact in terms of exports to other markets. Perhaps that warrants inclusion in the future ? Will see.

Coming back to NIO's Nov week #2 delivery, it has upped its delivery by 9.54% from week #1

We could perform a simple & straight forward estimates to see how NIO will fare by year end right now.

NIO- up to Q3 2022 delivery vs 2021 total delivery

Simple estimation - NIO 2022 total delivery

Assuming following weeks delivery remains static at 3,124 EVs until year end {refer to above illustration}.

NIO would have delivered 287,407 EVs by year end. This would be a whooping 314% above its Total 2021 delivery. How about this for an achievement ?

The point that I am trying to make here is that NIO is not all doom and gloom. On the contrary, it has lots of upsides / potentials and also a lot of potential pitfalls to navigate and mitigate as well.

During Q3 2022 earnings conference, the concerns have been raised by Analysts covering the session. It ranged from (a) increasing jumps in R&D expenses, (b) share-based compensation expenses etc...

Summary

It is hoped that I managed to pull off how a responsible article is supposed to be versus one that is all fluff and without much content or worse "dated" content.

At the end of the day, we definitely need to be discerning when it comes to our readings, what to retain and disregard, no ?

Have you come across any of such articles in your course of reading up on stocks that you are interested to find out more before diving into it ?

Share your thoughts in the Comments section below ok. Thanks.

Please give a "Like" if this Post has been remotely interesting. The rating is important to me. Thanks, thanks.

I am positive on Nio. IT IS WORTH WAITING FOR LITTLE LONGER.

Once the Bullish market starts the NIO stock will sky rocket. This is not based on my wish, it is based on the technology they have. BaaS is an innovative idea only NIO is using. Battery life is another thinh. I believe NIO has all the ingradients to grow.

I hv a feeling that it is the right time to add more of NIO to recover any loss faster and easier

surprising to see that NIO price dropped  lower than 10.
2 years back there were several Youtube videos predicting NIO to reach $350.
Nio cars are using state of the art technology. I have not heard of any quality issues.
An year back many investors pulled out of chinese stocks
I believe investors must have lost confidense in Chinese stock is the key reason

2  years back the punters were having a field time driving up the stk prices and then pull the rug from under the table, leaving all retail investors who chased the stock at a High, in a lurch.
Honestly how could NIO worth less now when it's producing more EVs and expanding outside of China.?

It would take at least another 7 months to come back to normal! If TEsla isnt recovering and none other EV gonna recover. It comes with the brand first.

Tks for yr view. I believe if Nio is able to make a stand with its Q4 earnings and the covid situation in China remains contained - this could be the breakaway reqd to further dissociate the 2.
Tesla overall influence on EV industry remains.

Yes.  And their "loss" per Quarter is diminishing while EV volume is increasing for first 2 weeks of Nov.  NIO needs to focus on delivering quality finished EVs..

In this high interest rate environment NIO hasn’t reported any profits. It may fall further when recession hits 🤔
