⚠️ Is monthly dividend stock good ?

Dream/expectation of a dividend lover (myself) : to create money machine then i can have a lovely passive income every month ❤️

Reality : Stock price dip more than the dividend given every month[Facepalm]

Let me explain more with the picture, you can see the 3 which one dip the most.

that time when i bought, i calculated the DY after 30% US tax net about 8% many of us thinking after stock dip, the DY should be higher, but actually no. The monthly dividend still consistent every month but the amount were reduced.

So if you buy now $QYLD(QYLD)$ $RYLD(RYLD)$ $XYLD(XYLD)$ the dividend yield after tax is still 8% average [Facepalm]  this is the reason why i have not added position (buy), I monitor the dividend amount, if stock price low but dividend is lower too, no point i DCA.

At the moment my DY still 7% while my capital loss average 17.5% still acceptable but not buying, just continue to monitor it.

Among these 3 : Stock price drop the most QYLD, dividend the best is RYLD.

This post it my personal opinion not investment advice. I just try to explain high dividend does not mean good if at the end we loss more on the capital.

I do hope when market recover, all go up to the moon, that's why I continue to look out undervalue good company to buy.

When choosing dividend stock pls check if itis sustainable ? Thank you for reading.

Invest wisely my friends ❤️

Additionally would like to share, QYLD, XYLD and RYLD are based on covered call strategies, there are no downside protection, and limited upside. The fund sells covered call which trades away upside for income. Hence when the market is bearish, lesser people buy call options, resulted in lesser premium earn, and translate to lower dividends. Not to worry, just hold and collect monthly cash, until there is a possibility to breakeven. All the best!

If market crash consider buy SG banks, let it grow for dividend, you see the 3 banks chart the whole year always reached the next higher level. can take profit if suddenly go up so high. Who knows can help to return yr capital loss like mine, UOB help me to get back my losses, my US stocks all red, but i just hold to diversify, hoping market to recover [Happy] i aim DBS if PB lower now DBS and UOB is too expensive, while waiting i will buy a bit OCBC if below $12

The writer’s experience is accurate. Haven’t invested in monthly dividend stock. Have just been buying a few shares to collect their dividend and then sell them. Sometimes share price fall so much compared to dividend received. Got to be patient and wait till price go up again to sell it. Avoid buying that stock again next time.

Thanks for sharing🥰 Maybe market bad now, later will go back up? If you think the stock future not good can just leave there for dividends➡️It just takes longer to breakeven only. I have 1 stock also like this drop 50% because lockdown I just leave there for dividend & wait for recovery.

capital loss can easily wipe out dividend. Dividend stocks works well in a bullish trending market.

@SR050321 Can I also ask-Most of your dividend stocks are from SG, so DY is 3-7% from banks, singtel, & REITs right? So buy US dividend stocks is for diversification or ___? Am thinking whether I should buy the 7% SG REITs but no tax or these US ones better?

My latest new comer $KEPPEL REIT(K71U.SI)$ and $SINGAPORE TECH ENGINEERING LTD(S63.SI)$ i buy coz the income look good, but usually i start with 100 stocks, gradually added if dip again. Coz i am retail investor the more i pump i feel the more risk, so i wud rather continue buying as and when i have funds.

I wud rather buy Sg blue chips for div n capital appreciation, because these company after div the stock price will recover although DY not great, div no tax, and for pure div income i wud rather buy REITS in SG again due to no tax, but notice REITS very poorly priced, always dip, so very hard to take profit for REITS maybe till market bull again or just leave it there for money machine, just hope fundamental no change, some merger or split or debt suddenly over limit.

@SR050321 Currently these 3 ETFs are subject to 30% WHT right? When PTP kicks it, does it mean WHT will be 10% instead of 30%?

Not plus my dear, 30% if you get div, 10% from the proceed if u sold it. so Tiger dont accept buy order for PTP is the best ! We are safe 😅

Hold for 20-30years objective, is to get monthly cash flow. After 10-20 years most likely will breakeven
