If you were Warren Buffet, how would you spend your fortune ?

Where do we even begin with a topic like this ? So opened ended ! Hmmm... let's see.

For starters, we need to understand (a) the man behind Berkshire Hathaway and (b) his investment philosophy before approaching the topic proper; so that whatever purchase that’s to come about, would be approved by the man himself. Agree ? 

Below will be a "personal" view of Mr Buffet himself; having read some articles about his investment, his letters to Berkshire Hathaway shareholders and short form videos here & there. Here goes something or nothing.... {hee hee}.

To succinctly conclude what is Mr Buffet all about ? I think its suffice to say that :

a. He is a thinker and a man of few words.

b. He knows who he is, where he stands and as such a confident man. Not arrogant mind you.

c. Frugality is how he chose to live his life - without fuss and pomp.

d. Even before buying into a company, he attempts to understand the business behind it and knows what he is getting himself into.

The above is what I think. With that in mind, with available resources and full backing of Berkshire investors, I will attempt to buy into the venerable 185 years old House of Hermes. Huh ? Hear me out please.

Justifications :

1. Steep in heritage.

2. Still standing after a whooping 185 years.

3. Its business is run with the end goal of producing quality products to last.

3. Synonyms with finer things in life.

4. Merchandise are understated and elegant.

5. Merchandise are highly sought after - especially its leather bags.

6. Merchandise are diverse - Household, Fine China, Apparel, Fine Jewellery, Accessories, Leather goods etc..

7. Its not at the top of the luxury hierarchy; hence growth potentials abound. {refer to file}

8. Business is Inflation and Recession proof.

9. Business is growing in leaps and bounce.

10. Business is sustainable eg. a bag sold, damaged could still be sent for repair by Hermes artisans for a costs (of course!).

This will be one hella of an investment that even Mr Buffet would want to acquire and allow it to operate & grow as organically as its doing now. Would you agree ? Share your thoughts / views in the Comments section below.
