Why I think (And Hope) Grab will Grow
With Grab announcing its new headquarters at One-North Business park on 11 Aug, it all seems new to me. Yet, it has been 10 years since Grab started in Malaysia (as MyTeksi).
In Singapore, I first knew of Grab because of Uber. Hailing private hire rides was then new to me but quickly became an important convenience in my life. Subsequently, after Uber was subsumed by Grab, I started to take Grab more often.
As result, I started Investing in Grab because I used it so often. But it didn't start out well as a SPAC and it has tumbled from its high of $17 and investor confidence barely existed.
But I admire how Grab is continually changing to adapt to the environment. Today, its my only "green" among my red portfolio.
Looking at how the business has grown and continually tries to evolve, I am more certain in continuing to invest in it, albeit with caution. It is adamant in supporting the gig economy, and not just the riders, but their family as well. Grab has launched programmes such as bursaries and scholarships for the familiersn of the riders, by means of giving back to the community.
Come 25 Aug, I look forward to see whether it is the company I've come to believe it to be through its earnings report. And I sure hope it grows.
