AMD Stock: Well-Positioned to Continue Taking Market Share

Despite computer processor developer AMD (AMD) taking meaningful market share away from rivals in Intel (INTC), its stock has been unable to steer clear of industry headwinds. Undoubtedly, there’s no way for AMD CEO Lisa Su to control macro issues. The PC market has slowed down, and macro headwinds could weigh down the stock further. Recession or not, though, AMD is well-positioned to continue taking share and building upon its lead, making AMD stock an intriguing pick-up amid the tech slump. In simple terms, AMD is firing on all cylinders, doing many things right amid unprecedented headwinds. Desktop CPU Sales Lowest in 30 Years, AMD Gains Market Share Anyway (Updated)By Paul Alcorn published 4 days ago -- One rises while the rest fall. The Mercury Research CPU market share results are in for the second quarter of 2022, and the news isn't great — desktop CPU shipments dropped to their lowest level in nearly three decades. Dean McCarron from Mercury Research says the year-over-year decline is the largest in the firm's records, which stretches back 28 years, and predicts it was the biggest since 1984 (36 years). The decline came as OEMs reduced their inventory, drastically reducing demand in the quarter. Somehow AMD managed to carve out gains in both unit share and revenue during the quarter, though.According to the recent earnings report from Intel, AMD, and Nvidia, the recovery

AMD has surged lately amid geopolitical tensions, a CHIPS bill and earningsAdvanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD)$AMD(AMD)$ sits at the intersection of multiple catalysts, creating crosscurrents that investors might find difficult to navigate. Most recently, the stock slipped in the wake of the semiconductor maker's quarterly results. However, shares immediately bounced back in Thursday's action, putting them on track for their sixth higher finish in the past seven sessions.Among the other factors impacting investor decision-making, global tensions between China and the U.S. threaten to further exacerbate a chip supply crisis. In part in response to this danger, Washington is working on a CHIPS bill meant to encourage U.S.-ba

Keep holding AMD$AMD(AMD)$ AMD’s stock marks 647% performance over the past 5 years and is likely well-positioned for high potential returns in the coming years. The Street consensus anticipates 19.94% FCF and 28.27% net income CAGR over the next 5 years.AMD’s recent acquisitions increase the company’s market opportunities to $300B TAM and open the door to strong secular growth trends.Although AMD is a stock with great potential, investors should consider the general market trend, as higher volatility and increased interest rates can significantly impact the stock’s price performance.

Advanced Micro Devices leads chip gains as Intel looks to Italy for helpAdvanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD)$AMD(AMD)$ was the top gaining stock in the semiconductor industry on Thursday, as analysts noted that its recent results, when coupled with weakness from Intel (NASDAQ:INTC), are likely to play out in AMD's favor.Baird analyst Tristan Gerra, who recently downgraded Intel (INTC) after the company's disappointing second-quarter, noted that AMD (AMD) is likely to see further gains in the server market due to product delays at the Pat Gelsinger-led Intel (INTC)."Intel's further push out of Sapphire Rapids, which is rapidly becoming a stale product before even launching, likely significantly accelerates server customer mi

AMD is slowly but surely gaining market share at the expense of Intel. AMD's products are no longer playing second fiddle to Intel's, and are even industry-leading in certain performance, offering greater value for money. Lisa Su is also a highly regarded and competent CEO in the industry. I'm confident that she will be able to continue to spearhead strategic changes and reinvent the company, leading it to greater heights. Hence, I'll hold its shares for long-term growth.@TigerStars@TigerWire
