Why Invest in ETF?  Investing in Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) offers several advantages: 1.Diversification: ETFs typically track a basket of stocks, bonds, or other assets, providing instant diversification, reducing risk compared to individual stocks. 2.Liquidity: ETFs are traded on stock exchanges, offering easy buying and selling throughout the trading day. 3.Lower Costs: ETFs often have lower expense ratios compared to mutual funds, which can result in cost savings for investors. 4.Transparency: ETFs disclose their holdings daily, allowing investors to know exactly what assets they own. 5.Flexibility: ETFs cover various asset classes and investment strategies, so you can choose options that align with your financial goals. 6.Tax Efficiency: ETFs can be tax-efficient due to their s

Newbies Blog: Learning from an "old" friend

It being a weekend, it was a break from stock watching and I picked up a book which I used to enjoy read, Rich Dad, Poor Dad from Robert Kiyosaki. It felt like a refresher as well as a stock take, to see how much I've learnt and applied. It also brought me back to why I started investing in the first place. One of the lessons I've learnt from him is to separate assets from liabilities. It was important to discern what cost you money and what made you money. The ultimate goal was to increase what made you money, or assets and make it more than what cost you money, or liabilities. Remembering this was what got me started in investing as well as my choice of investing in stocks. I wanted an alternative source of income which could appreciate in addition to my day job. This is so I could incre

$Vor Biopharma Inc.(VOR)$  $Fusion Fuel Green PLC(HTOO)$   Congratulations trader who had bought it early for day and swing trade . Stay tune for more momemtum on daily premarket  Oil was always going to $200 until it didnt. China was never going to reopen until it did. Covid would destroy the service sector until it didnt. Europe was going to have a gas shortage until it didn't The market will continue to go down until it doesnt. Staying invested in the market will always reaps rewards over time. Pessimists never win, optimists always do. As an investor, you should never be fearful when the market goes down! While most other people are panicking, what you could do instead is to keep calm

      Fed softer landing?

Given that the interest rate is now at 4.75%, and inflation at 7.7% from October's results, will the FED add another 2 x 50 BPS each in the next 2 meetings to technically bring inflation to 2% as the interest rate will then be 5.75% with inflation around 8%? Comment down below!

Inflation seems to be cooling off but…

With inflation seen to be cooling off, the Fed maybe softer in the rate hikes from 75bps to 50bps in the upcoming fed meeting. But they would not deviate away from their goal of 2%.  How does this affect Asian markets?  Firstly, for banks, they would have increasing NIMwhich will result in higher profit margins each quarter that they report their earnings. Secondly, for properties, with inflation it means that rental would increase over time and furthermore in strong economies, property prices are seen to be headed higher and higher into the future due to land scarcity.  Thirdly, with inflation everything would be more expensive overtime, and the only way to fight inflation is NOT to put your money in the bank fixed deposit, NOT to save your money in banks b

Do you believe in this rally?

Typically after the mid term elections, the markets tend to rally. But with inflation still well above 2% (7.7%), do you think this is a start of a proper rally? Comment down below!

CPI came out below than expected.

With CPI numbers coming out yesterday below than exepected, inflation rate has also came down to 7.7%. The markets in turn rallied.  The question that is on everyone's mind is "Is this the beginning of a proper rally into the marketsor is this another dead cat bounce?" Although inflation rate has come down to 7.7%, but it is still not good enough for the FED. They want the target of 2%. To achieve this, they have to continue to keep raising rates to achieve their goal. Therefore, I think that this is just a relief rally before more downside pain is experienced. But on the flip side, those who have positions in banks outside US should benefit as increasing interest rates would mean that the bank's balance sheet and profits will go even higher! What are your thoughts? Comment down below

3 companies to load up on in the bear market!

It is no surprise that everytime a bear market happens, people tend to let their emotions give in and sell away their positions if not get them forced sell by the brokerage because of margin call. But instead of selling away their holdings, you shouldactually be adding to your existing positions in which you have strong convictions on. After all, bear markets don't last forever. Following the teachings of Warren Buffett, the greatest investor of all times, he says "I like it whenthe markets are down, because I can buy more ofsomething at a cheaper price". For example, AAPL as we all know is the biggest company out there in terms of market cap ($3 trillion). During this time, yes people will spend lesson purchasing their products, yes people will avoid upgrading their phones. But let m

Singapore stocks 🏦 continue to push to year end

With the fed continuing to raise interest rates, the banks are seeing better profits each quarter asshown by the most recent earnings that came out. I believe that this will translate to bank shares going up into the end of the year. What are your thoughts?

Emotions 😱🤩 are the hardest thing to control when investing! Do you agree?

When it comes to investing in equities, emotions always get into people's way. When the price goes up, people FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) and they buy it, but when the prices drop, people get nervous and panic sell.  One of the key lesson that can be learned from Warren Buffett "Be greedy when others are fearful and be fearful when others are greedy!". Just by using this one quote, you can make profits even when everyone is in losses. Looking back on hind sight at the stock prices for certain companies, I wished I have loaded up more shares, but was to afraid to. Now I am kicking myself to not have added in more positions while seeing the prices go up. Through this, it has taught me to not be FOMO and jump in as of now but wait for the correct time and sit on a cash pile that is i

SG banks looking to close higher by year end

With the FED recently increasing the interest rate by another 75 basis points in November, coupled with the 3 local banks in Singapore reporting that they have better earnings than expected (net profit all increasing). By the end of the year, it is forseeable thatthey will end the year strong with the share price rising another 3-5%. I remain bullish on all 3 banks and already have positions in 2 of them. Backtesting with each of the local bank share price have given me confidence into how I invest. I am looking to add many more positions into my existing holdings. Always remember to do your own due diligence. What are your thoughts?

A Newbie's Journey and Beyond (Part 1: The beginning)

Start of my investing journey:                           I began my investment journey because I wanted to make money fast. I wanted to do it because I remember feeling low at that time and wanted to make more money quickly. Boy was this a bad move. With that impulse and the belief that buying stocks meant instant money (note that this was on the back of the stock rise in Jan where prices were sky high and the situation in Ukraine was not boiling), I looked upon the menu of stocks like a boy in a candy shop. I remember trying to buy what I had heard about: Xxx is good? Ok I'll buy it! Yyyy is even better? Wow I'll buy it!Boy was that a big mistake! Not only that, each time when I bought, I was expectin
