Jo's next exam: Patience 101

I wrote a few days ago about selling $DBS GROUP HOLDINGS LTD(D05.SI)$  too early at $35.4 and would update on the progress. True enough, as of 27 Jan 0900hrs, it has reached $36. I've been very focused since the start of the year in reducing loss, so much so every opportunity to make profit is painful.

When I wrote my last article, a lot of you encouraged me, saying that at least I had made real profits (thanks for that). It is true that I believe that making some money is better than losing more money.

While some of these mantras are from important lessons I learnt last year from buying DBS at $37 (peak, during March), I often wonder if I should have held on and ignore the fluctuation. From last year's experience, after high peaks, the share price usually comes down hard but it didn't this time🤦🏻‍♂️.

That being said, I continue to remind myself to learn to hold and not be so eager to sell. It's an opportune time for learning and DBS is certainly a stock which teaches you patience.

Right now, I am fighting another battle, which is not to FOMO and enter too early. It's part of my lesson in "never buying on the rise". And right now, DBS is absolutely skyrocking. It really feels similar to last year when I jumped on the band wagon and bought too high (wah, fighting human emotions are really hard). That being said, I intend to stick to my principles. I still feel it is never wise to rush and in investing, you are paid for patience. Patience in entering and patience to hold. This fight is especially difficult because I am aware the the US GDP was less than feared and the markets are green. Stocks can get much, much higher. I can only hope for another window of opportunity and be patient again.

@Adam Khoo   would probably say see, I told you so. You should have held on (Just my opinion, haha, I'm just guessing). Fine ok? I'll learn. It cost me money after all.

You should consider dollar cost average, I bought between $31 to $35 and now my average cost is $32.50. I am sure coming few weeks the price will go above $36 and have support at $35 because they will increase the dividend.
