The U.S. stock market has faced its worst start in 20 years. Following a nine-session rally, the S&P 500 dropped by 2%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined by nearly 1%, while the technology-focused Nasdaq index plummeted by almost 4%. Reports from Fortune magazine indicate that this marks the most dismal start for U.S. stocks since 2003.

Inflation will be the big macroeconomic focus in the coming week, with minimal earnings until the big banks including $JPMorgan Chase(JPM)$ $Bank of America(BAC)$ $Citigroup(C)$ $Wells Fargo(WFC)$ and a few others on Friday. Consumer Price Index data for December is due on Thursday, followed by the Producer Price Index on Friday.

Will Core CPI Drop and Trigger a Faster Rate Cut?
Trading Economics expect Dec CPI to be 3.2%, higher than the previous data of 3.1%; the estimates of core CPI is 3.8%, lower than the previous data of 4%. FOMC minutes indicated a growing confidence in controlling inflation and rate cuts in 2024. ------------------------------- Will core CPI drop as expected and trigger for a faster rate cut?
