Hong Kong stocks rose, starting the week on a firm note, after an official report over the weekend spurred optimism that consumer demand was improving in the world's second largest economy, with positive investor flows also boosting sentiment.
The Hang Seng Index advanced over 1% this morning. The Hang Seng Tech Index gained over 2% today.
Economists largely attributed the gain in consumer inflation to seasonality, in which the Lunar New Year fell in February in 2024 against in January a year earlier.
The recovery in consumer prices is a welcome sign of improved domestic demand. However, we are not yet out of the woods with trade still facing uncertainty and the property drag ongoing, which means policymakers will need to keep a proactive stance.
For such, I am optimistic for Chinese ADRs stock price this week. $Alibaba(BABA)$
JD is forming a short term uptrend since early this year. Friday's candle showed a short term neckline breakout and I do believe the stock will trend higher this week.
BILI, consider as a strong rebound after earnings. Friday closed with a green big solid candle and the EMA 10 25 and 50 are forming a good cross, which is the sign of bullish trend reversal.
For PDD, the graph is uglier as compared with to rest. It just broke down the major EMA 200 support line. The stock must rebound at this support level which is a common sign in technical analysis once the share price hits EMA200. Moreover, the earnings will be released this week, probably a great result is anticipated, which will push the stock upwards.
However, there is some downtrend risk as well. The Hang Seng Index dropped 1.4 per cent last week, the biggest weekly loss in a month, over disappointment from the lack of meaningful stimulus measures from the annual parliamentary sessions. Traders also fretted that state buying could wane once China's onshore markets exhibit signs of stability.
How do you like Chinese ADRs?
