On March 17th, the 11-day World Table Tennis (WTT) Singapore Smash 2024 ended, with the Chinese Table Tennis Team sweeping 5 championships.

Despite Singapore not having the same strong tradition and prowess in table tennis as China, the sport still garners widespread attention and support in the country. Many schools, clubs, and community facilities provide table tennis facilities, and a lot of people choose to play table tennis in their leisure time as a form of exercise and entertainment.

Furthermore, Singapore has produced some excellent table tennis players who have represented the country in international competitions and achieved significant results.

Here are some important achievements:

  • Olympic Medals: Singaporean table tennis player Feng Tianwei won the bronze medal in the women's team event at the 2012 London Olympics, and again at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Additionally, she won the silver medal in the women's singles event at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

  • World Table Tennis Championships: The Singaporean women's team has won medals multiple times at the World Table Tennis Championships, including gold, silver, and bronze medals. For example, the Singaporean women's team won silver medals at the World Table Tennis Championships in 2010, 2016, and 2018.

  • Asian Games: The Singaporean table tennis team has also achieved some results at the Asian Games, winning medals in the team event.

    Table tennis brought the world closer when China started “Ping-Pong Diplomacy in 1971. The table tennis frenzy swept the world and table tennis became an Olympic sport since 1988. Congratulations to the players that participate and won in the World Rable Tennis Singapore Smash 2024. If i meet a table tennis stars, i will ask them how we can promote table tennis for world peace.

    🌟🌟🌟Table Tennis is  my favourite game from my school days.  I used to play it every day with my classmates during recess time. 

    The 11 Day World Table Tennis Singapore Smash 2024 show cased the finest Table Tennis players especially from China.   What a treat for all Table  Tennis Lovers to watch the best players in action. 😍😍😍

    Personally, I am interested with table tennis but I am not a good player, only some basic skills. However, if there's a chance, I do enjoy playing this sports together with my friends once a while. I am more towards badminton sports in which I practice oftenly. It's a good sweating sports and can help to distress and foster relationship with your close one. However, when we get older, it will be harder to practice this sport due to a higher risk of hurt on your knees or joints. Anyway, both badminton and table tennis are still famous sports especially in Asian countries.
    If to converse with a table tennis star, I would like to ask : Until what age will you be playing? Can you serve using either hands? Attacking or defensive strategy is more recommended?
