Why did you choose Tiger?
Many reasons!
1) As a practical investor, I looked at fees and markets available that I can invest in. As I am bullish over China, one of the deciding factor was that Tiger allows me to trade in the China and Hong Kong market; not many brokers allows direct investment in the China market. As for Hong Kong, the fees are probably one of the cheapest available. As a newcomer then, I also had free commission trades which make it even more attractive for me. At that time, it was also commission-free trading for SG market. The majority of my holdings are in SREITs. Thus, makes perfect sense for me to use Tiger brokers!
Although the fees are now still attractive compared to other brokers, I of course, hope for further reduction! It would also be great if commission-free trading for SG market can return and if stock vouchers can be applied to the Chinese trade. These would definitely make me even more loyal to Tiger!
2) The interface is really easy to use!
Having used other brokers before, I think Tiger wins hands down for ease of use. From exchange of currencies to placing trades and using stock vouchers, everything is easy!
3) The platform is interactive with games to get coins for. The coins can be used to exchange for rewards that are really useful for trade. I also enjoy the community here which allows for exchange of ideas and opinions.
4) The news sections pretty much consolidated all the important news that I need to know as an investor on one platform. This is really convenient for me.
5) The free stock on sign up at that time was $Apple(AAPL)$. Too hard to resist!
What was your first post?
Cannot remember![Facepalm] but I do hope the quality has improved over time!
What was the first stock you like/ traded?
I really cannot remember which stock I first liked. Considering my favourites are Chinese technology and Apple, probably one of these.
But I can search for my first trade!
True enough, it was $Lion-OCBC Sec HSTECH S$(HST.SI)$'s HK equivalent $ISHARESHSTECH(03067)$.
Basically, I now hold both the HK and SG equivalent.
