Among the 3 major banks, investors putting in their monies into these 3 big banks who not only backed by govt and MAS but also has good dividends payout. As the prices for these banks are very high, to buy 1 lot is about 12,000+ for OCBC, 30K TO 35K for UOB and DBS. Another cheaper option with good dividends is HONG LEONG FINANCE. Hong Leong Finance has been around many years and they are popular among the Pioneer Generation where they put FD in those days and even now. My favourite is UOB, DBS AND HONG LEONG FINANCE. How would you trade during Earnings Season?Earnings season is a good gauge on how well or bad the company perform. However, one quarter or half yearly earnings results does not necessarily mean that the company is performing well all the time ir performing bad all the time. Shortage of chips should drive Intel and AMD higher but it was not the case. Moreover populace has always been increasing where family members have at least more than 1 laptop/computer and Laptop and computers have seen an increase in price of at least 10% because I checked latest models and prices every week at Department Stores such as Challenger and Harvey Norman. With shortage of production of chips, I am shocked to see the Tech Stocks plummet 5% or more. It is not logical at all. Shortage of chicken or fish dtives up the price. Shortage of chips drive down the price. I trust that AMD, APPLE AND INTEL will be bullish and will grow stronger than before.  Have faith in these companies.

Earning Season Investors are most active whenever earnings season is around the corner. This is because stock prices tend to rise and many will take profit by selling off their shares or buying the dip if the results of these stocks are under-perform History showed April and May are the months where stock prices usually rises. It is a good time to take profits and buy the dip diring the months of June to August. Glad that the bear has finally slowed down and the Bull has started running. HOW TO PICK A DIVIDEND STOCK?Choosing dividend stocks is not a bad idea at all as it provides passive income for anyone from all walks of life. But which stocks do we choose? Personally I feel banks stocks are safe but the 3 big banks prices are relatively high. You can buy a minimum of 100 shares if you are on a tight budget. Another alternative is to buy ETF such as STI ETF or Nikko AM STI ETF. Both gives good dividends at different months. In that way, you can spread your monthly collections within 1 year. What do we look out for? If you pick bank stocks, eg. DBS, you can see at the bottom which indicates dividends snd dividend yield and compare with other banks like UOB or OCBC and decide on which bank pays a bettr dividend yield. News reported on SVB ( Silicon Valley Bank) which made losses and Fred has stepped in to ensure the public of deposit access.  Those who have suffered under the Lehman Brothers or have not been directly affected in Lehman Brothers case, have the nightmare of history repeating itself which sent the public into anxiety and panicking behavior into withdrawing their deposits.
