The earnings season has kicked off, with tech companies such as $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ , $Netflix(NFLX)$, $Microsoft(MSFT)$, $Alphabet(GOOG)$ , and $Meta Platforms, Inc.(META)$ releasing their financial reports, causing market fluctuations. While some investors have doubled their profits through trading options, others have suffered losses as a result.

For instance, $Boeing(BA)$ 's options rose over 500% following its financial report last night.

The stock price of $XPeng Inc.(XPEV)$ rose by 40% following the announcement that Volkswagen would invest $700 million in the company, with $XPEV 20230728 20.0 CALL$ reaching an incredible peak gain of 11,000%.

We believe that many of our Tiger friends have already ventured into earnings season with options.     Ancient $Alibaba(BABA)$ straddle position that i had been rolling for months. Although its a straddle, i purposely position it deep in the money for puts. Wat this does, is that it is a net bullish position, but the calls will give income in the event that baba isnt bullish enough to break the straddle strike price. Its kinda risky as u may end up being assigned as the put is ITM. But well, have to always ensure that ur time premium is sufficent such that ur puts wont look that attractive to get assigned.

    I only sell covered options rather than gamble on stock price movements. so I would try not to hold option positions past earnings release cos prices might move too much against me and I would risk bigger than normal losses.

    I had been trading options since year 2021. I find this option trading is a very good trading tool to earn money. I only trade sell put options for those shares that you intend to own it if the sell put option exercise. After getting the shares, then I will trade sell call option that I intend to sell off the shares. Therefore I will immediately earn premium profits from the Sell Put/Call Options. I don't need to bother whether the options exercise. Of course, you need to ensure you have money to buy the shares if the sell put option exercise. On the other hand, you need to ensure you have the shares on hand to sell off if the sell call option exercise.

    Was assigned $HKEX(00388)$ $340. Sold covered calls at $340. With the current rally, my covered call lose money, but my stock recovers. If the rally continues, i will gladly let my stock get assigned at $340 and keep the option premiums recieved for net profit

    Sometimes i just hate earnings. All the others that i am monitoring on that day all rallied, except $Kimberly-Clark(KMB)$ which i sold a bullish put spread. This is part 1.

      This is part 2 of $Kimberly-Clark(KMB)$ bullish put spread. This is the defensive portion. As theres no more time left for protection, i will most prob use the protection and roll out the naked put. Since $Kimberly-Clark(KMB)$is a strong stock, i have no issue holding even if assigned.

    $Estee Lauder(EL)$ sometimes i really dunno wat to say. [Facepalm] this is a strangle EL position. Supposed to be very safe, but well along comes someone who gives bearish ratings. Then well, protective calls can even become negative as the volatility premium shoots up due to the plunge. A case of xxxx happens. But well, overtime the timedecay will revert the call to normal.

    $Morgan Stanley(MS)$ overstayed welcome during earnings. Should have exited early, but took too long to execute. Currently stuck with ITM call. Borderline ITM, will let the option decay somemore before taking action. Likely will roll it up and out or split the call into a strangle with higher value. See how it goes.

    [Cry]just took profit last few days for winning trades. Now primarily left with either positions to roll or adjust. [Facepalm] $Direxion Daily Small Cap Bear 3X Shares(TZA)$ have to roll soon at same strike for credit and buy some time. May consider rolling further out and down.
