With Black Friday kicking off the year-end holiday shopping season, investors are closely watching the resilience of the consumer market. Major retail stocks rose slightly, with Walmart and Target closing up 0.9 percent and 0.74 percent, respectively, while Amazon edged up 0.02 percent.

The day after the Thanksgiving holiday, retailers are trying to lure consumers with massive discounts. According to a survey by the National Retail Federation (NRF), American shoppers will spend an average of $875 on holiday shopping this year, an annual increase of about 5%.

On the economic front, the Standard & Poor's global survey showed U.S. service and manufacturing employment fell in November for the first time since mid-2020 as flat demand combined with rising costs.

The yield on the 10-year Treasury note rose to 4.472% on Friday. The 10-year Treasury rate hit its lowest since September last week as hopes rose that inflation would cool and the Fed would finish raising rates.

U.S. data this week, including revised third-quarter gross domestic product, the latest personal consumption expenditures price index and the ISM index, will be closely watched for the extent of the impact of the Fed's rate hike on the U.S. economy.

$Snowflake(SNOW)$ In the run-up to Snowflake's earnings report, investment bank Baird issued a research report giving the company an "outperform" rating and a price target of $200. Baird expects Snowflake to report "solid" numbers, but the focus will likely be on the macro environment as well as updates on artificial intelligence.

"We expect a modest uptick in fiscal 2024 quarterly guidance, with a focus on macro and optimization impacts," analyst William Power said in a research note. "Our industry checks show that the ongoing optimisation impact is offset by an ongoing shift to the cloud, with generative AI emerging early but with growing long-term opportunities."

Power expects Snowflake product revenue of $672.5 million for the quarter, up 28.6% year-over-year, and an adjusted operating margin of 3.9%. Looking ahead, he expects product revenue to reach $696 million in the fourth quarter, up 25.5% year over year.
