Is it a Buzzword?! How Stocks Perform After Splits?
Has split become a buzzword in the stock market? $NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$ announced it will undergo a 10-for-1 split on June 10 and its stock jumps 7% in the premarket trading.
Recent stock splits from big companies:
$Alphabet(GOOG)$ and $Amazon.com(AMZN)$ : Both conducted 20-for-1 splits in 2022.
$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ : Announced a 5-for-1 split in 2020, followed by another 3-for-1 split on August 25, 2022.
$Chipotle Mexican Grill(CMG)$ : Announced a 50-for-1 split.
How will stock perform after splits?
Stocks that split generally perform better than $S&P 500(.SPX)$.
$Apple(AAPL)$ and $Alphabet(GOOG)$ saw strong share price increasees after splits, reflecting positive investor sentiment.
However, long-term value depends on the company's fundamentals. After $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ stock split in August 2022, it has struggled to surpass $300.
