Which products do you primarily trade? Such as US stocks, options, or others?

I primarily trade U.S. stocks and options. My stock portfolio includes growth ETFs like $Invesco NASDAQ 100 ETF(QQQM)$ and $SPDR Portfolio S&P 500 Growth ETF(SPYG)$, covered call ETFs like $JPMorgan Equity Premium Income ETF(JEPI)$ and $Global X Nasdaq 100 Covered Call ETF(QYLD)$, and individual stocks such as $Alphabet(GOOG)$ and $Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$.

In the options market, I sell both cash-secured puts and call options. My focus stocks for options trading include PLTR, Google, JEPI, Manulife, Tiger Brokers, and QYLD.

Could you recount a particularly memorable investment you've made in the past few years?

  • One particularly memorable investment was with $PDD Holdings Inc(PDD)$. I purchased the stock on November 5th at $141, and within 10 days, it rose to $153, yielding a remarkable 8% gain. This experience validated my ability to identify good trends.

  • Additionally, I sold a put option for $Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$ with a $1.67 premium when the stock was trading at $14. As PLTR's price rose, the option expired worthless, allowing me to keep the entire premium – a 100% profit on the option.

  • I also have positions that I will keep forever my $Alphabet(GOOG)$ I bought at 135 has risen to 178 now earning around 4300 usd. As I am using YouTube, Google Maps and also Gmail I feel it’s a good stock to keep.

Lastly, if you could convey one investment message to fellow Tiger users worldwide, what would it be?

Tiger Brokers is the most user-friendly broker out there, offering great customer service and a supportive community. The platform has helped me immensely, especially through the guidance of experienced users like @MillionaireTiger and @CaptainTiger. Take advantage of the educational resources and rewards, such as free options trades during earnings season, to navigate the commissions in this inflationary period. Embrace the community, share your knowledge, and continue learning and growing together as investors.

What is the biggest investment lesson you've learned in the past few years?

For retail investors, the most important thing is not how much money we make in a bull market, but how well we can preserve their capital and profits during a bear market.

What are some new market insights recently? Any key focuses or investment goals for the second half of the year?

For most of the retail investors, it is better to focus on the US market only.

An investment message to global tiger users

Don't forget why we started. The purpose of our investments is to improve our lives, to have more time with family or to do things we love, not the other way around.

Considering your investment experience, what's the most significant lesson you've learned in recent years that has profoundly impacted your approach to investing?

As an academic, one theory I learnt was “market participants are rational; thereby markets are rational”. It’s just that: a theory. As a species, we haven’t evolved into beings of pure reason yet. For example: if markets were rational, Tesla’s share price (i.e. one of the most watched stocks in the world) wouldn’t have risen 10% just because Elon Musk tweeted that he will take the company private at $420 – an obvious joke about marijuana. Reason asserts that until a formal proposal is made to and subsequently approved by the board, there is no cause for taking this seriously. But that isn’t how it all played out.

There are numerous such examples. When it comes to the U.S. market, overvaluation is writ large and volatility is inevitable.

Could you recount a particularly memorable investment you've made in the past few years?

I tend to be very sparing with the candidate pool for my “buy and hold” portfolio. Into this, I added a large number of shares of Indian aerospace company Hindustan Aeronautics Limited about four years ago after doing a deep read into news about the company and press releases. Since then, my investment is now more than 1,000% relative to initial value without counting the regular dividends paid out.

In my “trajectory play” portfolio, my convictions on Tesla’s imminent price inversion (which I had documented often on Tiger Community) have particularly paid off this year via “inverse ETPs”, which have nearly the same payout structure as a short position but without the margin risk.

All is roses when you don’t have an issue. But there is problem arising from a trade , the customer service staff and higher management takes forever to engaged and respond timely. Personal experience here .
To be honest , past experience was good until this time, when a trade believed to be a system glitch caused me to not be able to cash in on a profit and lost money, management just push me off saying terms and condition say they have the rights to close the trade or allow it to expires. No follow up promptly
