Dow Hits New High! Is WMT the Best Choice This Year?

The Dow hit a new high yesterday, and the S&P 500 is just a step away from its previous peak. Many companies, particularly Dow components, reached new highs. Let’s take a look at this week’s new high stocks:

  • $Wal-Mart(WMT)$: This consumer sector company reached an all-time high of $76.03, with a year-to-date performance of 44.68%.

WMT has shown strong performance this year, far outpacing the broader market and most of the MAG 7 companies.

  • $Coca-Cola(KO)$: The beverage producer, more akin to a consumer staple, reached an all-time high of $70.84, with a year-to-date performance of 20.21%.

Every time the Dow hits a new high, KO also reaches a new peak. No wonder it's a company favored by Warren Buffett.

  • $CAVA Group Inc.(CAVA)$ operates a chain of fast-casual Mediterranean restaurants in the United States. This restaurant sector company reached an all-time high of $125.80.

Although the company's year-to-date performance stands at 192.69%, the earnings report released last week suggests that CAVA's rise may be unstoppable.

Cava's earnings beat estimates as restaurant traffic climbed nearly 10%.

  • $Cboe Global Markets, Inc(CBOE)$ is the parent company of the Chicago Board Options Exchange, one of the largest options trading platforms in the world.

It hits an all-time high of $213.13, with a year-to-date performance of 19.36%.

  • $JPMorgan Chase(JPM)$: This investment banking sector company has consistently reached new highs this year and is a regular in this column.

In yesterday's trading session, JPM closed at $219.17, with a year-to-date performance of 28.85%.
