Earnings Calendar (30Sep24) - is Carnival worth a look?

Earnings Calendar (30Sep24)

Q4/2024 has started. Nike, ConAgra, Cal-Maine Foods, Carnival, Levi's, and Constellation Brands are all expected to report their earnings next week.

Let us look at Carnival in detail.

Observations about Carnival:

  • The revenue of carnival has grown from $15.8 billion in 2014 to $21.5 billion in 2023

The gross profit grew from $5.4 billion in 2014 to $7.2 billion in 2023.

  • However the operating profit remains of concern despite recovery from COVID years to a operating profit of $1.9 billion in 2023.

  • Earnings per share EPS remained at a -$0.06 in 2023.

  • The P/E ratio of the company stands at 27.1 that makes it rather expensive.

  • The 10-year median margin of the cross profit stands at 36.2% and the free cash flow of the 10-year median margin stands at 5.9%. This is concerning.

Investing dot com has a “strong buy” rating based on technical analysis and a “buy” rating based on analysts sentiment.

For the coming earnings, the forecast of EPS and Revenue are $1.17 and $7.82B respectively.

Should the cost of living remain a concern, people may tighten their budget for items like travel, eating out and entertainment.

The outlook of Carnival looks to be improving but a negative EPS remains an area of concern. Despite the growth in revenue, I prefer to monitor this stock for now.
