America's Health System Desperately Needs A Reform
πππThe recent murder of United Health's CEO Brian Thompson brings to light the difficulties that the current health system faces in the US. According to Andrew Witty, Group CEO of United Health, he said that the health system is flawed and needs fixing.
The US is the world's largest economy and yet its health system is possibly the most expensive in the world.
While we cannot condone Luigi Mangione's action in murdering Brian Thompson in cold blood, it shows the frustration and anger especially by the ordinary Americans with the state of healthcare in the US.
I had experienced it first hand when I was sick several years ago while on vacation in the US and had to visit a doctor. The first question they asked me "Do you have a healthcare insurance?" Fortunately I had travel insurance and could claim once I returned home.
I also know that it is quite common for Americans to go to Canada to buy their prescriptions as it is much cheaper than buying them in the US.

The problem with the US healthcare system is that it does not have a central body to take care of healthcare. Instead it is up to individual states to handle it.
Perhaps with the appointment of Robert Kennedy Junior as Donald Trump's Secretary of Department of Health, there could some new reforms to handle this. Robert Kennedy has a laser focus to Make America Healthy Again (MAHA).
Fortunately in Singapore, we have much better and affordable healthcare than the US. We have Medisave and Medishield to cover our healthcare needs whenever we require healthcare. We have good public clinics and hospitals which are well staffed with great doctors and nurses. It is something that we should not take for granted.
Brian Thompson leaves behind 2 sons on his untimely death. Violence is never a solution no matter how bad a situation is. Instead America needs a new reform where it can provide adequately for its citizens especially the poorer ones whenever they require heathcare.
America is a rich country and it can certainly afford to look after its citizens' healthcare and well being.

Definitely! π It seems like these insurance companies have already started taking action. π Many people's medications are now being covered. Letβs hope this truly brings about some real change! π
