Just as $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ prepares to roll out it Robotaxi, 8 days from now, on 12 Jun 2025, $ARK Innovation ETF(ARKK)$ fund investment officer, Cathie Wood is not taking any chances. (see below)

On Mon, 02 Jun 2025, Cathie Wood-led Ark Invest made significant trades, notably selling shares of $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ and $Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$.

Palantir will be a separate story, not covered in this post.

If you have been following Ms Wood and her relationship with Tesla, you would notice that she is usually quite good at timing when to buy and sell TSLA. (see below)

• Above charts ARK Funds past 3 years’ - buying & selling of TSLA share vs its stock price.

• The “yellow” line is TSLA stock price.

• The “green” bar - when ARK bought TSLA, it’s mostly when TSLA was “trending lower”.

• The “red” bar - when ARK sold TLSA, it’s almost always on the “high”.

You “know” she has bought into TSLA when out of the blue, you find her socializing on the media talking about TSLA’s next sky-high stock price etc...

On this occasion, it is different because she is selling down her positions in TSLA.

In fact, she has been at it, since the last week of May 2025. (see below)

ARK has trimmed its Tesla holdings, after it has surged +23% in May 2025, although it dipped -1.3% to $342.03 on Mon, 02 Jun 2025.

• Despite the sell down, TSLA remained the top holding in the ARKK ETF.

• TSLA’s weightage in ARKK is about a 12.95%, with a market value of $715.35 million.

Stock Movement - Recap.

This EV maker’s share price is still a mixed bag.

• Based on past 5 days - it’s down -5.52%.

• Based on past month - it’s up +22.84%.

• Based on past 6 months - it’s down -3.82%.

• Based on YTD - it’s down -9.23%.

• Based on past 12 months - it’s up +96.98%.

Is Cathie’s sell down (a) a “necessary” strategic rebalance or (b) a tell-tale lack of confidence about TSLA’s robotaxi ?
