The U.S. Air Force has formally requested the purchase of two Tesla Cybertrucks for use as live-fire targets in advanced precision munitions testing.
Why? Because even under major impact, Cybertrucks donโt sustain the expected level of damage. In a statement from the Air Force Test Center:
โTesla Cybertrucks have been found not to receive the normal extent of damage expected upon major impact. Testing needs to mirror real world situations. The intent of the training is to prep the units for operations by simulating scenarios as closely as possible to the real world situations.โ
The Cybertrucks are part of a 33-vehicle acquisition for delivery to White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. But theyโre the only EVs requested for this purpose, and hereโs why:

In short, the military sees no commercial equivalent to Teslaโs design or materials, and is adapting its simulation protocols accordingly.
