$S&P 500(.SPX)$ $Dow Jones(.DJI)$ $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ 💀🇺🇸🔥 Trump 2.0: One Year Down ~ The Global CHOKEHOLD on Wall Street 🔥🇺🇸💀
I’m calling it straight, one year into Donald Trump’s second term, and my one word to describe him is CHOKE.
I’m seeing $S&P 500(.SPX)$ up about 14.4% year to date, but equal-weight gains are barely 6%. $CME Bitcoin - main 2511(BTCmain)$ peaked near 111K and now coils around 105K. $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ rallied roughly 70% post-election, then surrendered much of it in the mid-year Musk-Trump feud that torched $150B in market cap. The Musk–Trump clash became the ultimate subplot of the year; two titans trading jabs while Tesla’s valuation gasped for air. Trump tried to play kingmaker, but Musk reminded him who really moves markets.
The headlines promised a second-term supercycle; delivery looks more like execution drift. Trump 2.0 recycled the same playbook: tax cuts, tariffs 2.0 (tacos optional), deregulation dreams, but the market’s attention span has evolved. Shutdown drama, investigations, and policy ping-pong turned volatility into the national sport.
The government shutdown that began on October 1 has now become the longest in U.S. history, eclipsing the 35-day record from 2019. Just in, the Senate passed a 60–40 vote to reopen the government, with eight Democrats joining 52 Republicans. The bill now heads to the House, where a Republican majority means a swift approval is likely. Markets are already responding positively, pricing in a relief rally on expectations of renewed spending and stability.
While Washington debated optics, the world cashed in. Korea’s KOSPI has soared about 54% this year on AI chip strength from Samsung and SK Hynix. The MSCI ex-U.S. Index is outperforming by 12%, the widest gap since 2009. Europe’s ECB sits at a 2% deposit rate with inflation tamed and growth steady around 1.2%. Asia’s AI factories didn’t choke, they feasted.
I’m remembering 2017, when deregulation and tax reform minted legends on the Street. This sequel? Memes over millions. The showmanship’s intact, but the scoreboard’s savage. Wall Street came for the rally, but left with a lump in its throat; classic CHOKE play.
CHOKE fits: the grip’s there, the follow-through fumbled. For investors, it’s a reminder that rhetoric rallies, but results sustain.
👉❓Can Trump unclog the policy pipes and pump confidence before the global rally crowns new champions, or has Wall Street’s choke become the world’s opportunity?
