TACO Man Returns: Trump, Tariffs and SPTM ETF

🌟🌟🌟Every market has its folklore but only one has TACO Man - the mythical trader born from the Trump era tariff cycle, where a single tweet could send futures plunging before a "clarification" magically reversed the damage.  Traders eventually stopped calling it chaos and started calling it a pattern.  Like all great patterns, it comes with a mascot.

TACO Man isn't a person.  He is the embodiment of that rhythm :

Tariff threat ⏩Anxiety ⏩ Clarification ⏩ Optimism.

A full market mood swing served on a warm tortilla.

Now with 2026's tariff drama fading and the S&P500 erasing its losses, the TACO cycle has once again delivered its signature move: Fear first, then rally later.

Earnings remain strong, liquidity is still supportive and volatility is cooling.  The set up for the next 3 months?  Surprisingly constructive.  However double digit gains are not guaranteed but the probability isn't something to dismiss  altogether.   I have learned to expect the unexpected in the markets.

Then comes the classic Investor's dilemma :

Stick with the S&P500's mega cap fortress or rotate into the higher beta Russell 2000 for that extra spice?

My answer is simple and deliciously boring in the best way: $SPDR Portfolio S&P 1500 Composite Stock Market ETF(SPTM)$

Why SPTM is the Grown Up Answer in A TACO World

SPTM tracks the S&P 1500 Composite Index, giving you the entire US equity market - large caps, mid caps and small caps in one clean ultra low cost package.

Expense ratio is 0.03%

Coverage : 1,500 US stocks across the full market spectrum.

Beta: 1.0 - steady, broad and balanced.

Philosophy : You do not have to choose between S&P500 stability and Russell 2000 torque.  You own both.  You own everything including the mid caps.

It is the ETF equivalent of ordering the whole sampler platter instead of agonising over 1 dish.  You get the mega cap engines, the mid cap growers and the small cap comeback stories - all working together in 1 powerful ETF.

In a market that is shaped by policy swings, earnings resilience and sudden reversals, having the entire spectrum of the US market is a superpower.

Legend of the TACO Man (Trump Edition)

Picture this : A trader in a suit jacket sprinting across the trading floor every time a tariff headline hits.  He is yelling "Relax! Trump will walk it back" while clutching a taco like a risk management tool.

That's the TACO Man - the spirit of the Trump tariff cycle.  He does not panic.  He does not flinch.  He just buys the dip, wipes salsa off his Bloomberg terminal and waits for the inevitable   "clarification" that sends the markets ripping higher.

Somehow he keeps being right.

In a world where policy shocks still echo and reversals still matter, TACO Man reminds us that broad exposure beats narrow bets.

Which is why I am sticking with $SPDR Portfolio S&P 1500 Composite Stock Market ETF(SPTM)$ - the whole US market, one ETF and zero drama.

Even TACO Man would approve.  Though he would probably asks if it comes with extra guacamole.
