$AGL ENERGY LTD(AGL.AU)$

Sometimes, things just dun go according to plan...

https://ttm.financial/m/news/2239818631?lang=en_US&edition=fundamental&invite=S2ODHF

Am feeling conflicted.

I was looking forward to the demerger, as there will likely be capital gains through the selling of parts.

The green portion of agl will definitely be valuable. The coal power generator portion will bring in dividends, although it won't be smooth due to protests by green energy supporters.

On one hand, when we invest, it's for capitalgains. Otherwise, what's the point in investing?

When we are retail investors, and we are trying to get returns to have a better life for ourselves and our families, why will we care about the finer issues like decarbonisation in 20 vs 30 years.

On the other hand, I do question myself. WillI want my investment to be doing harm to the environment and to others?

It's the same reason y I choose not to investin "sin stocks". What are sin stocks?

Sin stocks are companies like tobacco producers, gambling companies, marijuana producers That may bring about social and personal harm.

It's a personal preference Though, these stocks do potentially bring about gd returns.

I dunno how to classify alcohol though... it's supposed to be a sin stock... but I am itchy. [Cool] [Sly] [Facepalm]

Personal view point aside, when we look at state of agl, company management is extremely important.

This brings me to my second conflict.

I am always of view that company management is extremely important to the performance of company and by association it's stocks.

With the chaos currently with management, is AGL worth holding on to?

Will the new management be better?

Will the chaos result in another buyout and Privatisation attempt?

I guess I am not the only one conflicted and waiting for more details

With the chaos, I am expecting big drop in share price. But looking at stock price, seemsthat many of the investors are adopting a wait and see approach.

Pushing for green is indeed better and if thetransformation is successful, I believe that the Management team will be more aligned.

In the long run, this green push will definitelyenable agl to unlock their full potential.

however, it's easier said than done.

For now, guess i will need more information from the new management before I can decide what's the next move.

I also think we should stay away from sin stocks. They are not helpful for making a better world.

Tobacco producers, gambling companies, marijuana producers, weapons manufacturer...They have their own roles to play in the current world. When social and personal harm tend to be near zero, and everyone can be a better version of themselves in proactive...That's too idealistic. It may take at least a century or two for the world to become like that.🤔
