Meta fell 40%: Facebook may close in Europe!

Recently$Meta Platforms, Inc.(FB)$It's really sad. After the financial report was released, it has dropped by nearly 40% from the highest point.

Analysts pointed out that there are several main reasons for Meta's sharp drop:

  1. Main reason: The metaverse project suffered a terrible loss, with a full year revenue of $2.27 billion and a net loss of $10.19 billion.
  2. TikTok's suppression in the field of short video.
  3. Facebook had 2.91 billion active users, and the growth stopped quarter on quarter.
  4. $Apple(AAPL)$The crackdown on online advertising has affected Facebook's revenue.

There are more unfortunate things to come.

Previously, the US privacy protection agreement was ruled invalid by the European Court of Justice. Eventually, Facebook and Instagram will not be able to send European user data back to the United States. This will have a devastating impact on Meta's "targeted push advertising function".

As a result, Meta threatened:

Consider pulling Facebook and Instagram out of Europe if data cannot be sent back to the US.

At present, European regulators are reformulating the regulations on the transatlantic transmission of European data.

......

Finally, let's talk:

    • Do you think Meta stock is a buy?
    • How do you view the possible withdrawal of FB and INS from Europe due to data disputes?

    Facebook $Meta Platforms(FB)$ 还是当年的 Facebook,但是对手已经变了。2021 年,字节旗下的 TikTok 全球月活突破 10 亿,同时成为第一个一个全球下载量达到 30 亿的 App。

It’s still too early to tell if FB should give up EU market. It’s all about users sentiment on FB exploiting users data for profit. Perhaps FB should consider profit sharing model

Definitely a buy. While there is data dispute it doesnt mean it will result in fb been ban or pull out. There are ways fb can overcome it.

I think Meta is still a buy. The 5-10 year horizon is bright. They have a strong dominance in messaging platforms. Withdrawal from Europe is unlikely to happen, just a negotiating technique.

I think Meta stock still has potential though its still early to start pumping in.
There’s more careful negotiations to be done between the 2 sides before we can judge on possibility of withdrawal.

Not much real innovation other than copying competitors and VR Oculus is a failure so far. Metaverse is a glorified version of Sims City. The decline is inevitable, should be $100 by end of 2022.

  • Fundamentally, it’s still in green but the losses from metaverse aspect is worrying. Technically, the huge gap down is not a good sign and there isnt a sign of reversal. Not a buy as of now.

Meta is still profitable. However without being shown what its concrete plan for metaverse and its Reality Labs burning cash, understandably investors are spooked. I waiting to enter

Meta has a price-to-earnings ratio of just 17. For a company as profitable as Facebook and with a bigger network effect than any other social network in the world, this valuation is compelling.

A buying opportunity in a market leader like this may not last.

I believe that the market has priced in most of the recent bad news surrounding FB, and barring any further bad news, I think the risk/reward ratio has improved and should regain investor confidence.

when the selling subsides, the buyrs would rush in as META has great plans in the metaverse, hence keep buying on the dips and you will laugh all the way to the bank!

I think FB is still a good buy as mature adults with spending power are still on it. I feel like they should not withdraw from Europe as there is a lot of revenue there.

If you buy meta, its really to ‘hope’ for their metaverse to succeed. They cannot rely on fb alone to grow revenues

Meta is definitely a buy! Will go up in the long term. Just like it did in 2018 when there was a huge drop in stock price, it recovered eventually

    not at the moment.
Metaverse idea is unproven n  treading into an unknown territory.
More losses might follow due to heavy investment.

I m not surprised they move into virtual world with blockchain
