It is a leading indicator as it can predict consumer spending, which plays a major role in overall economic activity. Higher readings point to higher consumer optimism. Initial Jobless Claims. This will be one of the reference points as the Fed consolidates data for the next interest rate hike in Feb 2023. Core Durable Goods Orders. This provides an outlook for manufacturing activity.
