Economic Calendar (10 Apr 2023)
Notable highlights:
CPI - this will doubtless be the most watched announcement for the week. The market is looking forward to a 5.2% (YoY) inflation rate with MoM Core CPI expected at 0.4%.
PPI - Producer Price Index reveals the inflation that hits producers first. Typically, this is a prequel to CPI as producers try to pass on inflation to the buyers.
FOMC meeting minutes - this would set the expectations on how the Fed view the current situation and how the interest rate may be applied to address the inflation & unemployment situation. This is a tough balance to manage.
Employment-related> initial jobless claims will reveal the extent of the jobless/unemployment situation, a data point for consideration leading to the final interest rate decision.
Crude Oil Inventories can be seen as forward indicators of market demand and consumption. If the trend of excess inventories continues, this implies demand erosion that can lead to reduced production & weakening consumer spending.
