Alibaba’s Rocky Road: Why Long-Term Investors Should Tread Cautiously Amidst Regulatory Hurdles

Alibaba Group sent shockwaves through the market as it scrapped its plans to spin off its cloud business, leading to a staggering $20 billion wipeout in market value. The abrupt reversal cited uncertainties over U.S. export restrictions on chips crucial for artificial intelligence applications. This move, coupled with a broader regulatory environment in China, prompts a cautionary stance for long-term investors eyeing Chinese stocks, highlighting the unpredictability and potential pitfalls that can arise even for industry giants like Alibaba.$Alibaba(BABA)$ $Alibaba(09988)$  Alibaba’s Cloud Conundrum Alibaba’s decision to halt the spin-off of

$Alibaba(BABA)$ short-term might not be the best right now but I am still bullish on BABA, the fundamentals are solid and it is not a question Of if but when price targets are met and the company flourishes again. It's a fire sale! There might be opportunity cost in theshort term if you want to get other stocks, buthighly recommend BABA for long-term to make big profits. The political situation might be complex but China will always find a way to overcome it with their strong economic outlook.

Alibaba: Time To Bail Out $Alibaba(BABA)$  Alibaba dropped sharply post its results announcement. The company delivered solid quarterly results, with revenues up 9% and strong cost control. The Cloud unit won't be IPO'ed. But that is the smallest worry that BABA investors should have. The company faces increasing competition from domestic rivals like PDD Holdings, while the potential weak growth of the Chinese economy could impact its performance. Geopolitical risks, including the ongoing trade war between China and the US, will continue to affect Alibaba's business and limit its growth potential. The negative market reaction to Alibaba’s latest earnings results indicates that the new geopolitical reality with heightened macro risks will cont

$Alibaba(BABA)$ on the recent news. The Jack Ma stock sale plan isn't worrying because the sale might cause a increase in supply of traded stocks in the market, thereby depressing prices of the stock. Rather, it is what it signals that is worrying. I say so because this signals a dawn of a new era for $Alibaba(BABA)$ , whereby Jack Ma intends to take a step back in the company he had founded, and relinquish more control and authority of the company to his successors. By selling his shares in the company, he is essentially selling away the control associated with owning these shares. As the face of $Alibaba(BABA)$

      I'm concerned about BABA's long-term stock price

$Alibaba(BABA)$ $Alibaba(09988)$ Oh My George Takai GIFAlthough BABA has been a drag on my portfolio for way longer than I would have anticipated, the optimist in me notes that JD $JD.com(JD)$ $JD-SW(09618)$ ’s better than anticipated results, the PBOC injection of cash and strong Singles Day numbers, coupled with low expectations, suggests there is certainly a reasonable chance of an earnings surprise and share price pop. That said, in the long term I do have some concerns about price war dynamics developing. But other industries manage successfully through that (e.g, V/MC) where the secular wi

$Alibaba(BABA)$ $Alibaba(09988)$ PDD $Pinduoduo Inc.(PDD)$ is eating into their retail business. Many Chinese I know almost use PDD exclusively. Temu is getting really popular here too. The Chinese American Community and even plain old American community is starting to use Temu over a variety of online retail platforms. Since cloud is going away for BABA with the NVIDIA $NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$ issues, PDD is about to match the market cap and enterprise value of BABA who got into too many businesses. And yes, they also lack a true CEO now.

      BABA is dirt cheap

$Alibaba(BABA)$ $Alibaba(09988)$ Alibaba is producing $30B per year in FCF (Q2 FCF was up 27% y/y) and they just initiated a $2.5B annual dividend (and that's in addition to their share repurchase program, which will be ~$10-12B over the next 12 months). That's a capital return yield of >6% (better than most dividend stocks out there). Stock is trading at ~$200B in market cap (7-8x P/FCF). If we back out $63B of net cash, we get to EV/FCF of 5-6x. That's dirt cheap and long-term investors buying here are getting compensated handsomely for assuming the risk of investing in China!
