Inflows into SRT & CLR reach 19-month high in April

Investing in exchange-traded funds (ETF) has become increasingly popular as it provides instant diversification into a basket of securities, transparency and tradability, as well as lower fees and transaction costs. This is probably why the ETF industry exceeded US$11 trillion in global assets under management (AUM) in 2023, after growing 24% year on year since the end of 2022, according to data from ETFGI.In Asia-Pacific ex-Japan, the ETF industry saw a larger increase, with AUM growing 35% to over US$780 trillion at the end of 2023. In Singapore, retail and institutional clients have also seen ETF adoption grow with AUM almost doubling in the past four years.Much of this increase was driven by the growth in the usage of ETFs as an SRS (Supplementary Retirement Scheme) portfolio construct

$Sea Ltd(SE)$ I see the TikTok ban as a double edged sword for Shopee. I'm not sure what to make of it. On one hand, it hurts TikTok's bottom line, which might force them to increase margins in Southeast Asia. But on the other hand, TikTok might decide to invest more aggressively in Southeast Asia as they just lost their most important market.I'm especially concerned they will use the money from selling TikTok US to invest in Southeast Asia as one of their most promising markets. It depends completely on TikTok's strategy, so at this point I can't say if it's a good or bad thing for Shopee.

There are concerns that Singapore's Good Class Bungalow (GCB) market could be increasingly dominated by foreigners. This could exacerbate the dominance of the wealthy in the niche housing market and contribute to rising housing prices. Given Singapore's limited land area, this trend could make it difficult for future generations of Singaporeans to afford homes. 😔
