$Viridian Therapeutics, Inc.(VRDN)$   SOLD !! Congratulations to trader who had bought on November for swing .. 😄 Those who expected the stock market to turn around immediately in 2023 were met with disappointment given how the market has performed the past few days. Stocks just sank yesterday after economic data showed continued tightness in the labour market that's likely to keep the Federal Reserve on track for higher interest rates. Although I'm confident the market will rebound this year, it definitely takes time. Regardless, there is nothing to be disappointed about. Always remember that the stock market is like a stormy sea, filled with many ups and downs, and unpredictable obstacles coming fr

Rookie start: Qld mum starts investing thanks to ShopBack incentive!

Ok so where will all that 'spare money' go now that 'investing' in 21 years of private school tuition is done?! [Doubt]  I have always wanted to invest in shares but never really knew how to get started.  I played the stock market game in high school when I studied economics but that was 30 years ago!  Everyone has a how I started story - So here's mine. It took my online shopping rewards program ShopBack to get me started. I saw the deal and researched Tiger Brokers and finally decided to go for it! With just a few clicks I'm up and running on my Iphone and MacBook; I really can't believe it is this easy! My son has been nagging me to buy Tesla and Apple shares and I finally have some thanks to the Tiger Welcome rewards! I'm wanting to support a gr

My very first trade in 2023

My very first trade in 2023 was $Lendlease Global Commercial REIT(JYEU.SI)$ on 5 Jan 2023 which I have bought due to the following reasons: 1)The share price of Lendlease has been trending downward from S$0.71 on 29 Dec 22 to S$0.675 on 5 Jan 23 2)To make use of the S$5 cash voucher for REITs which I have won from participating in the campaign organized by Tiger Broker from 8 Dec 2022 to 8 Jan 2023.for trading REITs. 3)To average down my cost price 4)The dividend yield is 7.18% 5)P/B ratio is 0.71 2022 was a very tough year for investors as most of the stocks especially for REITs were greatly affected by the aggressive rate hikes, geopolitical issues, economic slow down, high inflation and demand pressures. As the interest rate hi

My first trade in 2023 was Microsoft. Microsoft is a great company. It has an excellent combination of profitability, growth, balance sheet power and valuation. But while it may be a great long-term hold, it’s still susceptible to the temperament of the overall market. Despite its mega-cap size and tech industry dominance, the $1.77 trillion company has hardly slowed down. MSFT’s annual EPS increased by an average of 24% over the last three years, driven by an average revenue increase of 32.4% per year. Shares of MSFT have performed well over the last five years, increasing 220%. The current pullback is a potential opportunity to buy the dip. This is a high-quality stock with a high-quality business. Analysts expect annual EPS growth of 13% over the next five years. Microsoft has been

I bough Dollar General (DG). Dollar General is an established chain of discount stores selling consumer staples for low prices in neighborhood locations. The company sells its own private-branded goods alongside popular products from Clorox, Procter & Gamble, Coca-Cola, Kellogg's, General Mills and more. There are more than 18,000 Dollar General stores in 47 U.S. states. Dollar General stock is up 3% in 2022, even as the S&P 500 has fallen nearly 20%. Throughout this year, the chain has reported increases in foot traffic and in how much customers spend at each transaction. The company leaders are focused on streamlining their supply chain. Those efficiency efforts can help with the current inflation trend, but will also create long-term advantages. Dollar General is suppo

My first trade in 2023 - buy $Amazon.com(AMZN)$ .  I am bullish on this stock CEO Andy Jassy is focused on streamlining the company's cost structure. Amazon spends a lot of money in areas that aren't profitable, including its international and devices segments. The efficiency focus should usher in strategic changes in those areas, plus cost-cutting in ongoing activities like package delivery. Amazon also repurchased billions in common stock in 2022, for the first time since 2012. The company has $6 billion remaining on its share repurchase authorization. Continued share buybacks would support higher earnings per share later. On top of those factors, Amazon's stock price looks cheap right now relative to its

$Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing(TSM)$ was my first trade in 2023. TSM is the largest chip manufacturer in the world with over 50% market share. Taiwan Semiconductor stock pays a dividend and sporting a strong balance sheet. Semiconductor companies of all shapes and sizes turn to Taiwan Semiconductor and other foundries to make their chips. TSM boasts clients such as Nvidia and Apple, and it is at the cutting edge of advanced chip manufacturing. In fact, Taiwan TSM announced that it began mass producing its next-generation 3-nanometer chips. The company is also investing in manufacturing in the U.S. TSM with its stellar fundamentals, encouraged Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway to buy a large chunk ($4 billion wo

My first trade was $T-Mobile US(TMUS)$ . T-Mobile provides voice, messaging and data services to more than 100 million customers in the U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The company's two brands are T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile, formerly MetroPCS. T-Mobile stock is up 20% in 2022 on the strength of industry-leading customer acquisition. Two years after its merger with Sprint, T-Mobile is growing its postpaid phone business faster than ever (and faster than peers Verizon and AT&T). The company is also showing momentum in its high-speed internet business—adding nearly 1.5 million customers year-to-date. Third-quarter revenues increased 4% over the prior year, while free cash flow increased 32%. Net income of $508 million in t

I bought $Visa(V)$ because it has a strong earnings track record and mutual funds are taking notice as they grow their stake in the credit card giant. Despite looming recession fears, overall holiday spending in 2022 among U.S. shoppers is expected to match 2021 levels – $1,455 per consumer – according to a Deloitte survey. Meanwhile, Visa dominates U.S. credit card networks by transactions and cards in circulation. But it has ample room to grow in digital payments, while pursuing new bets in fintech and cryptocurrencies. Visa has less exposure to interest-rate risk. Visa neither earns revenue from nor bears risk tied to the interest or fees paid by cardholders. Instead, Visa derives revenue from client services, data processing, cross

My 2023 first trade was $Microsoft(MSFT)$ . This is my maiden first trade in Microsoft, on 4 Jan 2023 when this mega software giant crashed ~5%. I have always wanted to invest in it when it hovers around $250; so at ~$228, I decided to DCA into fractional share. Microsoft is a stock that I am hoping to see in Berkshire Hathaway's portfolio soon, as we can see Mr Buffett is confident in Amazon, although the stake is relatively small.

$Alibaba(BABA)$  Ant group recently gained approval for its capital expansion plans. This is a signal that the Chinese government is lossening its regulationson the Internet sector in order to support economic growth.  I am bullish on the Chinese Internet sector dueto compelling valuations and secular growth potential. There are many catalysts ahead including fiscal and monetary support, as well as the further relaxation of covid measures in China. As the world's second largest economy reopens, revenue of e-commerce companies such as Alibaba will continue to climb. China's digitalisation push will also serve as a driver for growth in areas such as cloud computing, which Alibaba is a leader in. With these ca
