I think trump is just being himself by issuing treats, similar to how he issues tariffs to the various nations to get what he wants. He has always wanted rates to be low but Powell has consistently rejected that and wanted to see more data. He is threatening Powell to lower rates. Whoever the next Fed chair is, he or she must know that it is an independent body and needs to do the right thing. However, this new chair will be swore in while trump is the president, so I think trump will try to influence the person for him job and very likely this person will share the same ideals as trump.
